HOT TIPS: WEEKEND BEST BETS
ROSEHILL
RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 87403
KINGSGUARD
Race 2, No. 11
Has been narrowly beaten in both Australian starts carrying big weights. He was caught right on the line by Kelvinside over 1400m at Warwick Farm then the race-fit Firebird Flyer wore him down over 1600m again at Warwick Farm. Kingsguard peaks here, the 1500m looks ideal and significantly he drops to the limit of 54.5kg. He looks great value.
TAB Fixed Odds: $7
NIC ASHMAN (Daily Telegraph). Form: 21x46
AGHAMORE
Race 9, No. 6
Is talented but obviously had his fair share of problems with long breaks between runs. But his latest trial was slick and at juicy double-figure odds you gotta have something on.
TAB Fixed Odds: $23
STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegraph). Form: 64995
BID OF FAITH
Race 3, No. 7
From Keith Dryden’s Canberra yard, this filly ran on gamely for a promising fourth at Canterbury on June 22. Gets in on the limit weight and looks great value.
TAB Fixed Odds: $8
JOHN DAVIS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 339x7
OBSIDIAN
Race 5, No. 10
Produced the best closing sectionals of anything in a race over this track and trip last start. Only has to repeat that run to go mighty close with the same weight today.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4.40
SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman). Form: 499x9
SUGAR BELLA
Race 1, No. 11
Willy Jimmy’s half-sister was awesome winning at home at Goulburn on debut when backed in to $2.70 off a pretty impressive trial win the previous month. Harder here, but Danny Williams knows which horses to bring to town.
TAB Fixed Odds: $6.50
DARREN PRENDERGAST (SuperRacing). Form: 24023
DUBAIINSTYLE
Race 2, No. 9
Drawn well and gets chance to turn tables on Suboric after narrow defeat last start.
TAB Fixed Odds: $7

CAULFIELD
MATT STEWART (Herald Sun). Form: 13867
TWISTING TYPHOON
Race 5, No. 10
Excellent on pace effort last start and drawn OK to press forward again. Talented.
TAB Fixed Odds: $7
MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun) Form: 3002x
LONGERON
Race 4, No. 1
Similar to Duke Of Brunswick. Up in weight but also takes on a similar field to last start at this track and distance where he demolished his rivals. Also has Dwayne Dunn on board. $3.50 looks over the odds.
TAB Fixed Odds: $3.60
DARYL TIMMS (Herald Sun) Form: 44x70
SELF SENSE
Race 4, No. 4
Likes this track and is ready to fire at the trip.
TAB Fixed Odds: $8.50
NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 76397
LORD OF THE SKY
Race 8, No. 3
Much maligned galloper, but has always raced at elite company. Has won three of five first-up and is a five-time winner at Caulfield.
TAB Fixed Odds: $7.50
CHRIS VERNUCCIO (SuperRacing). Form: 05643
LORD OF THE SKY
Race 8, No. 3
Hopefully he’s over the injuries that affected his Sydney campaign in the autumn. Needs to jump out cleanly, which will go a long way to finally ending his two-year drought.
TAB Fixed Odds: $7.50

EAGLE FARM
NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Form: 1182x
DOUGHTY
Race 5, No. 3
Admittedly doesn’t win out of turn, but racing consistently at the moment and comes off a solid second in a blistering race at Beaudesert. The winner has failed since, but over an unsuitable trip. Figures from that Beaudesert race stack up for this and he can go forward and give a sight for a very much in form stable.
TAB Fixed Odds: $17
BEN DORRIES (The Courier-Mail). Form: 00x40
RIVER RACER
Race 1, No. 10
This filly has huge ability but just hasn’t been able to put it together, or find a suitable race. Eagle Farm will suit her perfectly and there is big value around for this Les Ross 2yo who will be powering home.
TAB Fixed Odds: $13
BRAD DAVIDSON (Gold Coast Bulletin). Form: 00540
ROYAL OCCASION
Race 7, No. 3
This five-year-old from the Matt Dunn yard is airborne at present and he ran out of his skin in the Eye Liner considering how slow they went early. The drop back to 1200m won’t bother him and the big spaces of Eagle Farm will be a plus. I’m keen to back two horses in this race with the other being Crossroad at $12. His past two runs have been super and he should get to the outside and run on late.
TAB Fixed Odds: $12

GAWLER
BEN SCADDEN (The Advertiser). Form: 3x263
READY SUNSHINE
Race 9, No. 3
Hasn’t won for a while but been racing consistently. Wasn’t far away in strong form race at Morphettville last Saturday and looks a good each-way shot with the 3kg claim for apprentice Dylan Caboche.
TAB Fixed Odds: $7
LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: 50x35
BRAVE JOURNEY
Race 7, No. 7
Local who boasts three wins from fours start here on the track. Good effort first-up from a break then drew wide and was never a factor two starts back. Couldn’t go with the winner last time before working to the line well. Out to 1200m and the soft conditions should suit.
TAB Fixed Odds: $21
