Trainer Nathan Doyle rejects stud offers for filly Wealthofknowledge, sister of Blue Diamond contender Sebonack

A maiden filly belonging to trainer Nathan Doyle was the subject of numerous stud offers before her brother Sebonack emerged as a leading Blue Diamond chance.

Nathan Doyle has declined multiple offers from studs inquiring about three-start maiden Capitalist filly Wealthofknowledge — the older sister of $1.5m Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes contender Sebonack.

Calls from major studs well before Sebonack’s blistering debut in the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes gave the Newcastle trainer an inkling the Team Hawkes-polished colt must be “pretty good”.

Doyle paid $16,000 at auction for Wealthofknowledge, the first foal out of Profound Wisdom, in 2020.

The second foal — Sebonack — sold to Spendthrift for $260,000 last year.

Emphatic Group 3 winner Sebonack is the $7 TAB third favourite for the Blue Diamond.

“Three or four studs approached before Sebonack had a start,” Doyle said.

“If that horse can go on and win a Group 1 it would make her a valuable broodmare, that’s for sure.

“I’ll be cheering him home, but I’ll keep her … she’s only lightly raced, I’ll be racing her on for sure.

“I won’t be selling her anytime soon.”

Doyle ended up keeping 70 per cent of the bargain-turned-jackpot filly Wealthofknowledge after struggling to sell down the “big strong imposing” yearling, who needed time to mature.

The rise of Sebonack has ironically made the Novocastrian a magnet for six-figure offers.

Wealthofknowledge has finished second twice at Newcastle, earning Doyle and fellow owners, family and friends mainly, $12,000 in prizemoney.

“It’s hard to say (what she could be worth as) a full sister to a Group 1 winner, you’re not to know, some of those horses can bring a lot of money, she’s very valuable,” Doyle said.

“Let’s hope the brother wins Saturday.”
