TAB outlets the latest forced to close because of coronavirus pandemic

Racegoers have been banned from attending race tracks, pubs and clubs – and now TAB outlets. But racing is still continuing across the country.

TAB venues have been shut across the country, leaving punters without a place to have a wager.

With racegoers banned from attending race tracks and pubs and licenced clubs closed, the outlets were the only option for punters without betting accounts to have a bet on thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing.

The Federal Government has enforced the temporary closures of TAB agencies as it further restricts gatherings at non-essential services amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Racing is continuing throughout Australia with meetings at Bendigo, Rosehill, Doomben, Ascot, Morphettville, Launceston and Alice Springs on Saturday.

Punters are still able to bet by phone, online and mobile apps.
