Craig Williams

Melbourne’s premier jockey collected his fourth consecutive Melbourne metropolitan premiership, and eighth in total. His tally of 83 winners last season surpassed his previous best of 81 in 2007-08. He will command the top rides.

Kerrin McEvoy

Had a spring to remember last year after winning Australia’s two richest races — The Everest and the Melbourne Cup. McEvoy has his sights set on adding the Epsom Handicap to his Group 1 haul.

Damien Oliver

At 47, the three-time Melbourne Cup winner is still at the top of his game and riding as superbly as ever. The country’s most recognisable hoop, Ollie knows how to get on the right mounts for the big races.

Tommy Berry

Riding some of the most exciting spring prospects in Libertini, Exceedance and Pierata. He’ll be a serious player in Group 1 races and The Everest.

Nash Rawiller

Amazingly, Rawiller leads the NSW metropolitan title after returning from a 15-month riding ban imposed on him by the Hong Kong Jockey Club. He rode four winners at Randwick last Saturday and is one of the best judges when piloting a leader.

The early leader in the Victorian metro premiership. Some of his winning rides in recent week have shown what a great tactical rider he is.

Linda Meech

A broken collarbone couldn’t stop Meech from collecting her first Victorian jockeys’ premiership with a remarkable 139 winners, and she’s made a flying start this season. Underrated, she has been notching city winners consistently this season, particularly at double-figure odds.

Damian Lane

Has become a star on the world stage after dominating in his short stint in Japan with 37 winners — including two Group 1s — from 123 rides at an extraordinary 30 per cent strike rate.
