SuperCoach Racing can be a simple game to play even if your knowledge about the sport of kings of limited.
If you’ve never played before, or want to improve ranking, here are six suggestions to produce a stable full of winners.
1. Start with the Group 1 races
These races are worth the most points and the top-two placegetters both earn prices increases. Most of these horses will blow up the budget – with the exception of the three-year-olds. Fit as many as can before moving on to the Group 2, Group 3 and Listed races.
2. Load up with 3YOs
They are vital to your salary cap and earn the same points as the older horses. The more three-year-old races in a given round the better.
3. Choose your captain carefully
As the skipper scores double points, make sure it’s your best hope of winning a Group 1. The only time I would consider nominating a captain in a Group 2 is if that horse looked a good thing.
4. Check the odds
Theoretically, the shorter odds of a horse the greater their chances of winnings. There could be some easy points to be won in Group 3 and Listed races. Case in point was Surprise Baby in The Bart Cummings last year.
5. Pick cheapies
The $50k horses are gold, particularly those high in the betting, and their price can’t drop if they finish last. Horses assessed at $75k are also invaluable provided they’re not out of their depth in a particular race.
6. The jockey
Jockeys receive points on a 3-2-1 basis if their horses finish in the top three, regardless of the standard of the race. Pick a jockey with the biggest book of rides and the best winning
