Dual Group 1 winner Streets Of Avalon is almost certain to start a clear favourite in Saturday’s Group 2 PB Lawrence Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.
Streets Of Avalon is one of 10 acceptors for the $300,000 contest along with fellow Group 1 winners Best Of Days and Angel Of Truth.
The Shane Nichols-trained Streets Of Avalon has been well-backed since PB Lawrence Stakes betting opened on Monday, firming from $4 to $2.80.
Nichols is confident Streets of Avalon will be hard to run down from his customary on-pace position.
Streets Of Avalon has drawn barrier eight.
WA-owned Superstorm will have his first run for Melbourne Cup-winning trainer Danny O’Brien in the Lawrence Stakes.
Superstorm hasn’t raced since finishing sixth in the $7.5m Golden Eagle in Sydney last October.
The gelding finished strongly to win a Geelong jumpout on August 4.
Damien Oliver will ride Superstorm, who will jump from barrier seven.
Premier jockey Jamie Kah will ride the Godolphin galloper Best Of Days, who finished second in the Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m) at Flemington two runs back.
Best Of Days drew barrier two.
Caulfield Cup hopeful Nonconformist has drawn perfectly in barrier four for trainer Grahame Begg and jockey Jordan Childs.
Early tips for the PB Lawrence Stakes at Caulfield – Streets Of Avalon (2), Superstorm (4), Sansom (7), Red Can Man (6).
The Caulfield track was rated a Good 4 at acceptance time while the rail will be out eight metres.
