ROSEHILL GARDENS

Track: Heavy 8. Rail: True.

R1 (12.05pm): TAB HIGHWAY (1200m)

OVERVIEW: I really like the way Blitzar won last start and his two trials since have been super. He was disappointing at his only run on rain affected ground but he seemed at home on a very wet Wagga surface in a recent trial. I thought Art Cadeau did enough fresh to go close here second up over the longer journey and he gets through wet ground, while Depth That Varies can settle a touch closer from the good draw and should be strong late.

BETTING ADVICE: BLITZAR to win.

TAB MARKET MOVERS: Blitzar $6.50-$4-$4.20 ($500 @ $4.20 MULTIPLE TIMES)

R2 (12.40pm): SCHWEPPES HCP (1400m)

OVERVIEW: Enchanted Heart has to give the field a fair bit of weight here but one thing about her is she loves wet ground. She has won two from three starts on heavy ground and was on the wrong part of the track in her other run on heavy ground when sixth in the Provincial Championships Final back in April. She is also in good form this prep with a big win last start. Obvious Step was solid in the Reginald Allen last start and she did win a city maiden at her only run on heavy ground. Ellsberg posted a solid debut win at Warwick Farm and gets in with just 52kg here which could be telling on the wet track.

BETTING ADVICE: ENCHANTED HEART to win.

TAB MARKET MOVERS: Ellsberg $6-$4.80-$4.40 ($500 @ $5.50, $300 @ $5.50, $350 @ $4.80)

R3 (1.20pm): TRESEMME HCP (1200m)

OVERVIEW: Open race. Segalas was solid first-up at Canterbury and her wet track record is good. She gets in well with the claim and should be running on. Intrepadacious was very impressive first-up at Warwick Farm and she just has to handle the wet track to go close here. She should offset the wide draw early. Miss Einstein has trialled up well leading in and she relishes wet ground. Whether she is fit enough first-up on the heavy track is the query. Bring The Ransom has some great fresh form and also gets through wet ground. Let It Pour also has claims.

BETTING ADVICE: SEGALAS to win.

R4 (2pm): FUJITSU GENERAL HCP (1900m)

OVERVIEW: Quintessa is as good a chance as any of these and she will find this much easier than the Craven Plate last start. Kirwan’s Lane has won both starts in strong fashion this prep and he won his only run on heavy ground last prep by three lengths with 59kg. He just has to overcome the wide draw here. Quintessa and Archanna are both each-way hopes, while Relucent should be finishing off strongly as well.

BETTING ADVICE: Leaning to KIRWAN’S LANE here.

TAB MARKET MOVERS: Archanna $8-$8.50-$5.50 ($300 e/w @ $8.50/$2.90, $1,000 @ $6, $500 @ $6, $1,000 @ $5.50)

R5 (2.40pm): RENDR DELIVERY SPRINT (1100m)

OVERVIEW: Looks a nice race for Macroura and she did a terrific job last preparation winning three straight before finishing midfield in the JJ Atkins when up sharply in trip. She gets in well at the weights here. Black Magnum beat subsequent Group winner The Bopper last start in a clear career peak. He likes wet tracks as well. I like Placquette as a horse but I don’t think she is a wet tracker, while Irish Songs wasn’t far away in the Koscuszko and beat Southern Lad last prep on heavy ground.

BETTING ADVICE: MACROURA to win.

TAB MARKET MOVERS: Black Magnum $8.50-$8 ($500 e/w @ $8/$2.70), Macroura $5-$3.70 ($300 @ $5, $556 @ $4.60, $667 @ $4)

R6 (3.25pm): ROSHILL GOLD CUP (2000m)

OVERVIEW: I like the way House Of Cartier has been progressing and she has been looking for this extra trip. Her record on heavy ground is mixed but she did win the Wagga Gold Cup on a heavy track before later being disqualified. Nimalee sets up well enough here and she is another one who will appreciate the extra trip and wet track. Purple Sector could not have been more impressive last start and he would be a good thing on a dry track. Does he handle the wet track though (I believe he may be running in Melbourne next week instead?). She’s Ideel is flying and also has claims.

BETTING ADVICE: NIMALEE to win. HOUSE OF CARTIER also runs well at odds.

TAB MARKET MOVERS: The Candy Man $11-$10, Purple Sector $6-$3.50 ($300 @ $6, $400 @ $5, $500 @ $4.20, $350 @ $3.90)

R7 (4.10pm): YES YES YES STAKES (1300m)

OVERVIEW: I thought Gytrash was outstanding in the TAB Everest and he lost his advantage as soon as he missed the jump. He finished off strongly all the same and just has to run out the 1300m here to be hard to beat. Haut Brion Her was also superb in the TAB Everest and she just has to reproduce that effort to go close here. Imaging has been a different horse since being gelded this prep and he should relish the wet conditions. Eduardo had an extremely tough run in the TAB Everest when he went far too hard in front. If he has come out of that race OK then he should enjoy the wet conditions here.

BETTING ADVICE: GYTRASH to win.

TAB MARKET MOVERS: Mister Sea Wolf $15-$17 ($200 x $400 e/w @ $15/$4), Wild Planet $26-$12 ($750 e/w @ $16/$4.20, $800 e/w @ $14/$3.90, $800 e/w @ $13/$3.70), Man Of Peace $26-$23 ($250 e/w @ $23/$6)

R8 (4.50pm): GOLDEN EAGLE (1500m)

OVERVIEW: Hard to go past Funstar here despite the wide draw and her runs on wet ground have been super. She has the tactical speed to roll forward if they choose and she will be hard enough to beat. I think Colette looms as the big improver here on wet ground. She wasn’t far away in the Epsom on dry ground and her two runs on heavy ground last prep resulted in dominant wins. Sierra Sue looms as the X-factor horse in this year’s race and she was the only horse to break 11 seconds for her last 200m at Flemington on October 3. Icebath was outstanding at Randwick last weekend over the mile and also has claims on another wet track on the back up.

BETTING ADVICE: FUNSTAR the horse to beat.

TAB MARKET MOVERS: Superstorm $15-$16-$14 ($1,000 e/w @ $16/$5, $1,000 e/w @ $14/$4.40, $250 e/w @ $14/$4.25), Colette $13-$7.50 ($300 x $100 e/w @ $13/$4, $200 x $300 e/w @ $11/$3.50, $500 @ $9.50, $200 x $500 e/w @ $9/$3.10, $500 @ $8.50, $1,000 @ $8, $900 @ $8), Funstar $4.40-$5-$4.80 ($400 @ $5, $300 x $600 e/w @ $4.80/$2.10), Sierra Sue $13-$14-$9.50 ($500 e/w @ $14/$4.25, $500 e/w @ $12/$3.90, $400 @ $12 TWICE), Icebath $26-$19

R9 (5.25pm): QUAYCLEAN HCP (1400m)

OVERVIEW: Open race to finish the day and track pattern could be key by this time of the day. Fender wasn’t beaten far in the Kosciuszko and he is unbeaten on three runs on rain affected tracks. Dancing Gidget was super last start off a slow tempo and she has won on heavy ground before. She is just likely to give them a big start here. Zakat is having a great preparation and he has shown he can get through wet ground in the past. Surreal Step was beaten less than three lengths in the Silver Eagle and bolted in at his only start on heavy ground.

BETTING ADVICE: Leaning to FENDER with the unbeaten wet track record.

TAB MARKET MOVERS: Surreal Step $10-$7 ($250 e/w @ $9/$3.20), Greek Hero $16-$11
