SHE is one of the greatest race horses of all time and in a matter of days, will be a three-time Cox Plate champion.
But when you’re screaming her name as she sprints down the home straight or putting her into your trifectas, quaddies and quinellas, have you ever wondered why Winx is called Winx?
Well, there is nothing innocent about it, with the champion’s name coming all the way from Las Vegas.

Winx’s mother was called Vegas Showgirl and as part owner Richard Treweeke explained, things spiralled from there.
“If you’ve ever been to Vegas and go to see a couple of shows you realise there’s some pretty good sorts up there … you know cheeky bums and lovely t**s and that sort of thing,” Treweeke told Channel 9.
“And if you like them you wink … and if she likes you she winks back.”
It is clear Winx has been winking back at plenty of racing fans in the lead up to the Cox Plate.
Punters have been lining up to back the champion, who will start at $1.15 with the TAB.
This morning one punter placed $106,500 on Winx to win her 22nd consecutive race.
Winx, who will start from barrier six, is the third shortest priced Cox Plate favourite in history.
Only Phar Lap, ($1.07 in 1931 and $1.14 in 1930) has jumped shorter.
