BEAT THE BOOKIE: VALUE BETS
ROSEHILL
RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 2x250
OLD NORTH
Race 6, No. 5
Is a monster of a three-year-old who was dominant at Randwick when resuming on New Year’s Day then had two months off before an outstanding effort at Warwick Farm midweeks nine days ago. This is a big jump to Group 2 level but Old North is up to it and will appreciate getting out to 1500m on the bigger track tomorrow.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.80
CRAFTINESS
Race 5, No. 2
Plummets in weight here after shouldering 62.5kg when runner-up to Felines at headquarters earlier last month. Won a Randwick trial since and under this compressed weights scale, he looks the one to beat.
TAB Fixed Odds: $3.80
LISTEN TO THE SUPERRACING PODCAST PREVIEW FOR ROSEHILL
SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman). Form: 34142
LARAPINTA
Race 3, No. 16
Was sold for $350,000 at the Magic Millions on the Gold Coast. Have a look at her pedigree and it screams Golden Slipper. Her sire Sepoy won one, her dam sire Stratum won one too. Her 2nd dam is by Rory’s Jester while both Marscay and Luskin Star appear in his fourth generation. I thought her two trials have been outstanding, absolutely outstanding in fact.
TAB Fixed Odds: $1.80
DARREN PRENDERGAST (Superracing). Form: 72111
HARTNELL
Race 1, No. 1
Top class Group 1 winner finished fifth behind Winx first-up in the Chipping Norton last month. Has a strong second-up record and is unbeaten in two starts at Rosehill. The one to beat.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.10

FLEMINGTON
MATT STEWART (Herald Sun). Form: 21616
YESTERDAY’S SONGS
Race 9, No. 8
Gets back around a bend, which suits. Looks the winner.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4.60
MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun). Form: 22112
STRATUM STAR
Race 4, No. 2
Tough galloper who finished on strongly when second to the top liner Turn Me Loose in the Futurity Stakes. Step up to 1600m ideal and race should pan out well for him.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.80
DANNY RUSSELL (Herald Sun). Form: 5115x
STRATUM STAR
Race 4, No. 2
Reckon he might be able to steal a winning break on come-from-behind horse The United States. TAB Fixed Odds: $2.80
SIMON MOY (Superracing). Form: x21x2
HOT DIPPED
Race 2, No. 8
Talented Tasmanian filly who toyed with her rivals in the wet on Launceston Cup Day. How talented? We’re sure to get a better gauge of her ability here but with three wins from three starts has done nothing wrong to date.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4.40
NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 54912
BOW CREEK
Race 7, No. 6
Won the Peter Young Stakes impressively last start and should be suited by the step up to 2000m for the first time.
TAB Fixed Odds: $3
CHRIS VERNUCCIO (Superracing). Form: x5118
STRATUM STAR
Race 4, No. 2
Finished second behind Turn Me Loose last start, should get the perfect run off a moderate tempo.
TAB fixed odds: $2.80

GOLD COAST
NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Form: x7151
WILD ‘N’ FAMOUS
Race 8, No. 4
Have little doubt Desert General is going to end up the best horse from this lot, but he has a nightmare draw and is likely to be giving away a decent start, to those up front, which include W’N’F. He wasn’t overly impressive to the eye at Doomben, but the time was solid enough and suspect he’s going to take a lot of confidence out of getting another win on the board. Slightly longer trip on a bigger track also suits, especially from what looks the gun draw.
TAB Fixed Odds: $3.60
BEN DORRIES (The Courier-Mail). Form: 26672
SPIRIT OF HEAVEN
Race 3, No. 1
Was scratched recently because the track was too firm, but finds a more suitable surface here and has a perfect draw. The class horse in the race and will be winning, with even luck
TAB Fixed Odds: $3.40
BRAD DAVIDSON (Gold Coast Bulletin). Form: 77674
WALHAAN
Race 5, No. 6
Two runs back from a spell have both been super and the step up to 1800m looks ideal third up. Should get a lovely run midfield and be able to get to the middle of the track in the straight and he should be too good for these.
TAB Fixed Odds: $3.80
MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS
MORPHETTVILLE
BEN SCADDEN (The Advertiser). Form: 15182
EVIL DREAMS
Race 4, No. 2
Quality three-year-old resuming for the strong Richard Jolly stable. He’s taking on more experienced rivals here but showed plenty of talent when last in work and should settle close to the lead from good barrier for in-form apprentice Caitlin Jones.
TAB Fixed Odds: $3
LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: 412x1
COLONEL CLUSTER
Race 8, No. 1
Smart colt who impressive winning first-up from a break and should be even better for this.
He finished 6th behind Tarzino in the Victoria Derby last time in and the 1550m tripe looks ideal. The one to beat.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.75
