HOT TIPS: WEEKEND BEST BETS

FLEMINGTON

MATT STEWART (Herald Sun). Form: 2300x

MR PAGO

Race 2, No. 8

Backed off the map first-up but pattern was against. Bigger track will suit.

TAB Fixed Odds: $11

ROD NICHOLSON (Herald Sun). Form: 54763

OUR VOODOO PRINCE

Race 5, No. 1

Has a super record in this distance range and looms as the testing material again.

TAB Fixed Odds: $4.60

DANNY RUSSELL (Herald Sun). Form: 21052

HETUKA ZARSHO

Race 3, No. 8

Bright talent. Looked green winning a Kyneton maiden, but Ellerton-Zahra stable is flying and he looks a three-year-old to follow going forward.

TAB Fixed Odds: $9

NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 94554

CRIMSON CAPE

Race 6, No. 5

Dropped in grade to win stylishly at Sale last start and steps up to 2000 metres for the first time which looks ideal. Tricky gate, but looks an each-way special.

TAB Fixed Odds: $7

SIMON MOY (Superracing) Form: 211x2

SEA SPRAY

Race 9, No. 12

Has never won over this distance and not for a long time, but past three runs seem to indicate extra distance will suit. Honest type and could easily bob up here.

TAB fixed odds: $9

CHRIS VERNUCCIO (Superracing). Form: 12052

DIVINE MR ARTIE

Race 2, No. 10

Has been consistent and was defeated narrowly last start to a smart filly. Step up to 1400m a slight query.

TAB fixed odds: $5

RANDWICK

NIC ASHMAN (Daily Telegraph). Form: 32826

SO SERENE

Race 3, No. 13

Been working well and shouldn’t be the $17 offered in some markets.

TAB Fixed Odds: $15

STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegraph). Form: 29100

FRESPANOL

Race 7, No. 10

Gai Waterhouse-trained 5YO who had plenty of support when disappointing at Rosehill on November 28. Raced too far astern on that occasion and from gate one here will be much closer to the pace. Her horses always race well at Randwick and the in-form Thomas Huet is in the saddle.

TAB Fixed Odds: $10

JOHN DAVIS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 24902

BANK ON HENRY

Race 2, No. 9

Swept home from the tail at Rosehill last month to be beaten less than two lengths, in similar grade. Progressive type and this class does not appear to be any stronger.

TAB Fixed Odds: $5

SHAYNE O’CASS (The Sportsman). Form: 22986

MIDNIGHT ROSE

Race 3, No. 12

This striking filly has trialled twice and as you would hope for, her second one was better than her first, not that it was too shabby. Some of these ‘raced horses’ have great form and it is a big worry tipping a first starter from gate 12, etc, etc, but there was just something about this filly that I liked.

TAB Fixed Odds: $10

DARREN PRENDERGAST (Superracing). Form: 24707

SNIPER

Race 4, No. 10

Caught the eye when rattling home late at Canterbury in first run in Australia after two wins in New Zealand. In astute stable and looked open to plenty of improvement. Great each-way claims.

TAB Fixed Odds: $12

MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS

DOOMBEN

BRAD DAVIDSON (Gold Coast Bulletin). Form: 34216

MR FAVULOUS

Race 2, No. 3

Mr Favulous gave his opposition a beating first-up and should be half his $10 quote here. Yes, he got it easy enough in front on that occasion but he is not a first-up horse and he still scooted home in a slick 32.91 seconds to score. Should get a lovely run behind a hot speed here and he can make it two straight. Back him each-way.

TAB Fixed Odds: $7.50

MARKET: TAB FIXED ODDS

MORPHETTVILLE PARKS

LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: 1x621

NITRO NICK

Race 3, No. 1

Has been solid in the market in winning his past two on his home track at Mornington and jumps up to metropolitan grade here. Drawn well, claim a bonus and looks nice each-way value in an open race on paper.

TAB Fixed Odds: $5.50
