HOT TIPS: WEEKEND BEST BETS
ROSEHILL
RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 00988
REBEL DANE
Race 8, No. 3
Is an extremely talented galloper who has been racing well in top grade all season. At his most recent start he ran well for fourth behind Turn Me Loose in the Futurity. Coming back in distance but suited by the hot tempo of this race and I expect he will be charging home late.
TAB Fixed Odds: $14
NIC ASHMAN (Daily Telegraph). Form: 14895
GOOD STANDING
Race 7, No. 8
Extremely talented colt that has never run badly — trials included. His work last Saturday was phenomenal and I can’t help but think this could be the last time we see him at $14.
TAB Fixed Odds: $13
JOHN DAVIS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 08219
FLIPPANT
Race 3, No. 8
Comes to hand quickly and looks primed first-up from a spell following a 900m trial win at this track last month. Wet ground should not pose a problem and Hugh Bowman engagement seals the deal.
TAB Fixed Odds: $7
SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman). Form: 12006
BOUNDING
Race 8, No. 10
Can hit back hard here after her Oakleigh Plate ‘failure’ where she was ninth, beaten 2.8-lengths. There was good money for her that day and no wonder, she trialled like nobody’s business at Randwick 8-days before the Plate. I think you have to forgive a really good horse a bad run. K-Mac (aka Kerrin McEvoy) has ridden her once on race day and that was her massive 4-lens win in The Heath. I’ve seen him ride her in a few trials and they look like they have a bond.
TAB Fixed Odds: $26

DARREN PRENDERGAST (Superracing). Form: 04230
VANBRUGH
Race 6, No. 3
Powered home after being held up at crucial stage in the Australian Guineas. Won the G1 Spring Champion Stakes over this distance in the spring and has the services of Hugh Bowman. Big chance.
TAB Fixed Odds: $8
CHRIS VERNUCCIO (Superracing). Form: 21175
FELL SWOOP
Race 8, No. 13
Just ran out of time in the Oakleigh Plate (finished second) and that form looks good with The Quarterback beating Chautauqua in the Newmarket. Yet to produce a poor run.
TAB Fixed Odds: $5.50
DARYL TIMMS (Herald Sun) Form: 8314x
CAPITALIST
Race 7, No. 7
Form was faultless before last start failure, but is perfectly drawn and well worth another chance.
TAB Fixed Odds: $8
NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 09832
CAPITALIST
Race 7, No. 7
Massive market overreaction to his defeat in the Todman and can emulate stablemate Sepoy by bouncing back and winning the Slipper.
TAB Fixed Odds: $8

BENDIGO
MATT STEWART (Herald Sun). Form: 01531
DANDY GENT
Race 5, No. 11
Great effort to push Real Love last start after excellent effort when led at fast clip at Valley. Overs.
TAB Fixed Odds: $6
MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun). Form: 49012
TIVACI
Race 8, No. 2
Forgive his failure in the Australian Guineas when he had a tough run from his outside draw. Go on his controversial win over Palentino before that and he looks nice value at $6.
TAB Fixed Odds: $6
DANNY RUSSELL (Herald Sun) Form: 642x3
TIVACI
Race 8, No. 2
Forgive last start when he pulled his head off in Australian Guineas. If he settles here, can blow them away.
TAB Fixed Odds: $6
SIMON MOY (Superracing). Form: 15x71
PERIGNON
Race 9, No. 10
Seems to have more than her fair share of setbacks but there is little doubt she is blessed with exceptional ability. Super finish to down rivals last start first-up. If right, can do it again.
TAB Fixed Odds: $7

DOOMBEN
NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Form: 80114
DECONSTRUCTED
Race 6, No. 7
The $6 is likely to trim up as we get closer to race time. Has five lengths to make up on the enigmatic Liberation, but the step to 1350m suits and nothing worked out for him fresh. Expect a sharp improvement.
TAB Fixed Odds: $6.50
BEN DORRIES (The Courier-Mail). Form: 60141
HARBOR SPRINGS
Race 3, No. 6
Versatile mare who strikes a very winnable race and has a terrific second-up record. Was finishing nicely at Coffs Harbour last time and the extra trip suits. Looking for a rough result here, as the favourite is silly odds.
TAB Fixed Odds: $17
BRAD DAVIDSON (Gold Coast Bulletin). Form: 86013
QUICK KETCH
Race 8, No. 2
He was a bit ordinary last start but he did miss the jump and the race was a sprint home. Before that he put together two city wins on the trot and the $8.50 is over the odds. Plenty of speed in this race and expect him to flash late.
TAB Fixed Odds: $8

MORPHETTVILLE
BEN SCADDEN (The Advertiser). Form: 82436
DASHEBO
Race 7, No. 9
Been thereabouts at two runs back from a spell and should be nearing peak. Drawn to enjoy a cosy trip and expect her to be finishing strongly against an even group of three-year-olds.
TAB Fixed Odds: $8.50
