THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8
VRC SPRINT (Saturday): Brave Smash ($13) has attracted a decent bet in the past 24 hours, however, it still pales in comparison to the money that is being held on Redzel ($4.80). One customer has splashed out $1,000 x $2,900 e/w @ $13/$3.80 on the Manikato Stakes winner but Redzel is holding approximately 40 per cent of the money.
MACKINNON STAKES (Saturday): Latrobe ($5) continues to be the most popular runner in terms of money taken in front of the race favourite, Blair House ($2.25). The pair are still the only two runners to have attracted any sort of serious support.
SPRINGTIME STAKES (Saturday): Ringerdingding ($5.50-$4) has attracted good early money to win the race. The opening price of $5.50 didn’t last very long at all as punters rushed to get a piece of the Darren Weir runner, who is now pushing Yulong January ($3.20-$3.90) for favouritism.
GOLDEN SLIPPER (March 23): Catch Me ($15) has attracted a sizeable bet to win the Golden Slipper despite the race being several months away. The daughter of I Am Invincible had a bet of $9,900 e/w @ $15/$4.50 arrive for her earlier today. She is equal top pick in early markets alongside Anaheed and Time To Reign. Vinicunca was added at $26 after winning the opening race at Flemington on Oaks Day.
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 7
MATRIARCH STAKES (Saturday): Temple Of Bel ($6.50-$5) has been the most notable firmer since the market opened on Wednesday. The Tony McEvoy-trained runner is now outright favourite after sharing top billing with Savvy Coup ($6.50-$7).
VRC SPRINT (Saturday): Defending champ Redzel ($4.40-$5) attracted a big bet as soon as the price touched $5. One TAB punter has splashed out $1,000 e/w @ $5/$2 on the Team Snowden runner. Of the others, Spirit Of Valour ($15-$9.50) has come in from double-figure odds.
MACKINNON STAKES (Saturday): The early money is on international raider, Latrobe ($6-$5). Considering the success overseas horses have enjoyed during the carnival, it is no surprise to see Latrobe the best tried in early betting. Blair House ($2.20-$2.25) is the clear favourite for Melbourne Cup-winning trainer Charlie Appleby.
