Racing fans unable to attend the Melbourne Cup due to the pandemic have lashed out at Channel 10’s television coverage.
Race watchers are not happy with the talent 10 has rolled out for the Race That Stops a nation, with comedian Dave Hughes copping the brunt of criticism as many lamented the absence of Seven racing doyen Bruce McAvaney.
Channel 10's coverage of the Melbourne Cup absolutely sucks. So terrible. We miss you Bruce and team. #MelbourneCup2020 @Channel10AU

One minute Dave Hughes...the Wallabies the next on the Melbourne Cup coverage? No wonder the numbers are off a cliff. Any racing on Channel 10 today?

“Where the hell is Bruce?” One person Tweeted.
“Hasn’t 2020 been traumatic enough without having Channel 10’s racing coverage imposed on the nation,” one person wrote on Twitter.
“We miss you Bruce and team.” Tweeted another.
Ten’s coverage is anchored by veteran sport broadcaster Stephen Quartermaine with Gorgi Coghlan and Hughes.
Others were unhappy with the herky-jerky nature of the coverage.

Quick flick of the channels to the Channel 10 coverage of Cup Day. Not sure who ticked off on having Dave Hughes and some lady in a shower cap fronting the broadcast as a good idea ð¤¦ââï¸ Straight back to @Racing for me.#thatsyourAgradetalent ð¤·ð¼ââï¸ #MelbourneCup

Starlet Francesca Cumani was unable to attend the Cup, due to COVID-19 restrictions, but 10 crossed to her, where she revealed her father Luca was diagnosed with the virus, forcing her into quarantine.
My tip for today....stay away from channel 10

Listening to the great Steve Quartermaine use the term âOGsâ is just enough to rule me out of the Channel 10 coverage already. Where the hell is Bruce?!? #MelbourneCup
