Scales Of Justice has been cleared of a suspected bleeding episode after Racing Victoria stewards accepted trainer Lindsey Smith’s submissions.
Smith, who won the Group 1 Memsie Stakes with the gelding, was questioned by stewards last week, when he was presented with photographs of the horse returning to scale at Flemington last month.
Smith was adamant the horse had not bled as stewards also took evidence from jockey Dean Yendall and stable manager Maddie Raymond after Scales Of Justice was spelled following his fifth placing in the Makybe Diva Stakes.
Smith told stewards the horse had shown no abnormalities, but it was his view that Scales Of Justice was at the end of its preparation, having been in work for a long time and feeling the effects of recent racing.
He said Scales Of Justice would now be spelled.
Stewards considered available the evidence, including Mr Smith’s submissions, and will take no further action.
Smith was back in the Group 1 winner’s circle on Sunday when veteran Black Heart Bart won the Underwood Stakes at Caulfield.
