Trackwork rider Stephen Brown Jnr remains in an induced coma in the Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
A Racing Victoria spokesman said doctors were continuing to monitor Brown’s head injuries.
Brown was air-lifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital after he suffered injuries in a fall at Wangaratta jump-outs on Wednesday morning after being placed in an induced coma by paramedics.
Brown retired from race riding late last year and works with his father Stephen in training their team at Nagambie and at Flemington.
Victorian Jockeys’ Association chief executive Matt Hyland said there were positive signs on Wednesday night.
Hyland visited Brown Junior on Wednesday and said on RSN927 on Thursday the doctors “were a little more positive with the scans and the tests”.
Hyland said Brown also suffered cracked ribs, a fracture in his neck and a punctured lung in the incident.
The 20-year-old had his last ride last November.
Brown was the tallest jockey in racing standing at 180cm.
