BEST BET
FOREST DIAMOND (Race 4, No.3)
Hard-fit filly that continues to race well. She drops to 53.5kg after Alana Kelly’s claim and can turn the tables on her opposition on Saturday.
VALUE BET
FORBIDDEN CITY (Race 7, No.14)
Talented three-year-old that bolted in by eight lengths first-up last time in. She has placed at 1200m and performed well in soft ground.

RACE 1: 12:05PM MRC MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL HANDICAP (1200m)
The two-year-olds will start the day on soft ground but happy to back RIVER RIBBLE (6) to get punters off to a flyer. He showed the benefit of time when producing a mature performance to score easily at Cranbourne first-up and he can go on with it at Caulfield. HAFEY (4) looked smart winning first-up last time in but wasn’t ready for the Blue Diamond at Group 1 level. THRON BONE (1) has won his last couple and will be thereabouts again. CHOPIN (5) won narrowly on the synthetic on debut and can improve.
SUGGESTED BET: River Ribble to win.
TAB MARKET MOVER: River Ribble $5 – $3.50
RACE 2 (12:40PM) LAMARO’S HOTEL VOBIS GOLD INGOT (1400m)
MANHATTAN THUNDER (1) hit the line hard to score on debut at Sale and will be improved for that outing and a bit more ground will suit him. BOOGIE DANCER (8) is racing in great heart and should again have every chance. BERKELEY SQUARE (3) was a strong debut winner at Geelong and has had more time to develop. CREDIBLE ANALYSES (4) sustained a long run when not far away on debut and he’s worth thought at odds.
SUGGESTED BET: Manhattan Thunder to win.
TAB MARKET MOVER: Manhattan Thunder $3.30 – $3.
RACE 3 (1:15PM): ROYAL MEETING IS ALL CLASS (1400m)
This is the toughest race of the day but DERIVE (3) is ready to win after an excellent effort at Sandown second-up and she’s drawn to have every chance. AWAPUNI PRINCESS (5) is knocking on the door of a win after strong seconds at her last couple of runs on the Sandown Lakeside circuit. MINOUCHE (6) closed well when not disgraced first-up and is a second-up winner. CULILY ACE (12) chased well when close-up at Sandown second-up and is worth thought.
SUGGESTED BET: Derive each-way.
TAB MARKET MOVER: Unusual Culture $7 – $5.50.
RACE 4 (1:50PM): MRC CHAIRMAN’S CLUB HANDICAP (2400m)
FOREST DIAMOND (3) is hard-fit after racing in great fashion through the winter. She hit the front early but was outgunned late at Flemington but will be harder to beat with a softer ride and only 53.5kg on her back after Alana Kelly’s claim. CALMSIR (2) was well ridden to score at Flemington and should run well again despite rising in 3kg. DUKE OF HASTINGS (1) is racing well and should go close again. KINTSUGI BELLE (9) is a developing stayer that could place at big odds.
SUGGESTED BET: Forest Diamond to win.
TAB MARKET MOVER: Sing For Peace $7 – $6.
RACE 5 (2:25PM): TOBIN BROTHERS FUNERALS VOBIS GOLD STAYERS (2400m)
NO EFFORT (3) is on trial at 2400m but she’s well in at the weights under the set weights and penalties format of this race. She’ll roll forward and should be hard to run down again. YOUNG HOSTESS (11) is racing in competitive fashion and loves the 2400m trip. TEEWATERS (12) chased well when resuming over 2000m last time out but he’ll be better off at 2400m and ran third in the Victoria Derby in the spring.
SUGGESTED BET: No Effort to win.
TAB MARKET MOVER: No Effort $3.80 – $3.10
RACE 6 (3:05PM): SENET GAMBLING LAW EXPERTS HANDICAP (1200m)
PASCERO (2) is a quality three-year-old that resumed with an excellent fourth to the classy Passive Aggressive at Flemington. He’ll be getter for that and should be harder to hold out this time. ATTRACTABLE (4) improved with racing last time in and won easily over 1200m first-up last time so respect him. POUNDING (6) might want a shade further but doesn’t know how to run a bad race and can sprint well fresh. SANDY PRINCE (8) was solid when second over this trip at his only autumn run and likes soft tracks.
SUGGESTED BET: Pascero to win.
TAB MARKET MOVER: Pascero $4 – $3.40
RACE 7 (3:45PM): STOW STORAGE SOLUTIONS HANDICAP (1200M)
Expecting the Peter Moody stable to have a big say in the result here but going with FORBIDDEN CITY (14) as a great each-way chance at odds. She posted an easy eight-length win when resuming last time in and showed glimpses that she could measure up in harder races. She’s drawn perfectly here. SNAPPED (3) impressed with wins at her first two starts last time in and has had more time to develop. Forbidden City’s stablemate CHAIN OF LIGHTNING (2) was a comfortable first-up winner and should be around the mark in this deeper race. THRONTARI (17) doesn’t have much luck in her races but is worth putting in multiples.
SUGGESTED BET: Forbidden City each-way.
TAB MARKET MOVER: Snapped $4 – $3.60.
RACE 8 (4:20PM): THE BIG SCREEN COMPANY BLETCHINGLY STAKES (1200m)
The 1200m is a question mark for MILEVA (8) but she can answer the query in the affirmative with a win in the Bletchingly Stakes. She led and did a good job down the tough straight track at her last 1200m outing and she’s a better mare on soft ground. STREETS OF AVALON (1) is yet to win on soft ground but is the class runner of the race. AYSAR (3) hasn’t won for a while but wasn’t far away in the Monash Stakes first-up. Queenslander SCALLOPINI (2) was narrowly beaten at Group 2 level at his last 1200m run.
SUGGESTED BET: Mileva to win.
TAB MARKET MOVER: Streets Of Avalon $8 – $6.50
RACE 9 (4:52PM): CATANACH’s JEWELLERS HANDICAP (1400m)
A big field to finish the day but LUCKY DECISION (4) can end the day on a high for punters. He impressed with his development last time in and was beaten less than a length in Group 2 company over this course. He can win first-up. HERE TO SHOCK (20) has run well at both outings this prep and has drawn well. DIRTY DEEDS (9) is a first-up winner and has gone well at the jumpouts. SWISS HERO (3) is a talented type that could show up fresh.
SUGGESTED BET: Lucky Decision to win.
TAB MARKET MOVER: Dirty Deeds $23 – $18.
