The 2020 Underwood Stakes has ben run and won at Caulfield with the brilliant four-year-old Russian Camelot delivering a five-star performance to underline his status as Australia’s next star stayer.
Having his second run back from a spell the Danny O’Brien-trained galloper demolished his rivals in a display of sheer quality which immediately had him firming into $4 to win the Cox Plate and $8 to win the Melbourne Cup.
Jockey Damien Oliver took luck out of the equation and raced Russsian Camelot in second place behind outsider Trap For Fools and he cruised to the lead on straightening and easily held Humidor who hit the lone strongly for second to cut out Arcadia Queen who had every chance.
