James McDonald is adamant Invincible Star will be better suited to The Everest after she was no match for Redzel in the Concorde Stakes.

Kementari will be tempting to back after a good second in the Memsie Stakes but, again, he didn’t win.

And Vega Magic couldn’t finish it off in the same race (without blinkers). Forgive Happy Clapper for his run in the Memsie too.

The safe bet is still Redzel at $6 which is a good price considering his easy Concorde win.

Commuters will soon see these buses roaming around Sydney.

Meanwhile, The Everest buses are about to be rolled out. They look pretty slick.

CLIMB EVERY MOUNTAIN

COUNTRY horses need to win races to put their names up in lights for The Kosciusko, but Scone trainer Brett Cavanough is also taking to social media to get the attention on potential slot holders. Check out the picture he tweeted.

He’s hoping to get The Monstar into the $1.3 million race and he should get a start.

A committed owner travelled more than 4000km to watch a horse he part-owns at Goulburn on Friday.

He caught the red eye from Perth to Sydney, landing at 6am, before catching the train to Goulburn and being picked up in town by the trainer and heading to the track. The horse didn’t win, but what about the commitment.

WHO’S THE BOSS?

IT’S interesting to note that Boss Lane ran a faster last 600m and Redzel in the Concorde Stakes. He ran 32.16sec compared to Redzel’s 32.47sec. But The Everest champ still has a lot of improvement left.

OLIVE BRANCH

NICK Olive was devastated when he learnt the new owners of Single Gaze decided to race her with Chris Waller and not retire her. Olive and Waller were having a chat at Randwick on Saturday and were in good spirits.

Unfortunately after Single Gaze’s last place finish in the Chelmsford it might have been a good idea to keep her in retirement.

SUNDAYS DON’T COME EASY

KERRIN McEvoy said the heavily backed More Sundays overraced and would be better ridden with cover next time. He was also on the other boom horse of the day, Miss Fabulass, which couldn’t win the Furious Stakes but said she might benefit being ridden quieter and on softer ground.

IT’S ALL IN THE NAME

GERALD Ryan has a new Deep Field colt come into his yard recently and it’s called Married. The only reason we can think it got that name was that it is by the dam Living Hell.

JOCKS LIFT SPIRITS

TOMMY Berry and Tye Angland made a few very young kids day’s by handing out their racing goggles after the Furious Stakes.

CANADIAN DREAM?

IT may be harness racing but Lazarus will race again overseas in the Canadian Derby at 11.45am on Sunday morning and it can be seen on Sky Racing 1.

Sticking with another racing code and Kiwi greyhound Wheelchair Norm has won a world record 98th race.

AVDULLA BEHIND EIGHTBALL

BRENTON Avdulla will be back riding in Australia next week but with James McDonald already 14 wins in front of him it’s going to be near impossible to defend his Sydney jockeys premiership.

But he’s still the most improved jockey in Sydney. These are his strike rates in recent years: 2013 (10.5%), 2014 (12.3%), 2015 (15.9%), 2016 (16.2%), 2017 (17.5%) and this year it’s 18.3%.

WALKER’S HIGHS AND LOWS

MICHAEL Walker was suspended for five meetings for careless riding on Comin’ Through in the Tramway Stakes. From Sept 2 — 13.

Kathy O’Hara was fined $400 for not riding Insensata out in the last race. It finished sixth, a nose behind fifth.

HORSES TO FOLLOW

Youngstar (top return), Pretty In Pink (improvement to come), Sangita (couldn’t get a clear run)

ONES TO SACK

Just Shine (out of sorts), Streets Of Avalon (no up to it)

RIDE OF THE DAY

Jay Ford on Gordon’s Leap (came from a tough spot to win).

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Did Tom put this in?” said Chris Waller when Dixie Blossoms’ Connections protested in the Tramway Stakes which would have lifted Tom Melbourne to first had it been upheld.
