THE University of Canberra Vikings were denied a thrilling NRC win when Jesse Mogg’s post-siren penalty goal was waved away — but should it have been awarded?
The Vikings and North Harbour Rays were locked at 21-all on Thursday night with more than 83 minutes on the clock when Mogg stepped up to the kicking tee for a penalty attempt that would have sealed victory for his side.
The Brumbies fullback seemed happy with his shot, which appeared to sneak inside the right-hand upright, only to see it waved away.

Vikings flyhalf and man of the match Robbie Coleman believed Mogg’s shot was good.
“I thought it was over,” Coleman said.
“But it’s probably the disadvantage of having short posts. It’s a bit disappointing.”
Mogg’s ‘miss’ meant the Vikings and Rays shared the spoils in the Canberra clash.
It was a second draw on the bounce for the Rays, who last round escaped with a 34-all draw agains the Greater Sydney Rams at Brookvale Oval.
