The Wallabies had to hold their nerve after losing two stars to yellow-card sin-bins in the first half, but went on to score seven tries to one.
Tevita Kuridrani's second try at the start of the second half killed off any hopes Uruguay had of challenging Australia - and the men in gold went on to record a 35-point win, their biggest victory since their 65-3 victory over Uruguay at the 2015 World Cup.
