A BROKEN jaw has ruled out Queensland halfback Nick Frisby from Saturday night’s clash against the NSW Waratahs at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.
Frisby has been told he will be sidelined for six weeks after precautionary scans on Monday detected a crack after he copped a knock to the jaw early in the second half of last weekend’s 30-20 loss to the Western Force in Perth.
Frisby underwent surgery late Sunday.
Switching flyhalf Ben Lucas to halfback is one solution, with the squad’s No.1 halfback Will Genia (ankle) already sidelined. Rookie halfback Scott Gale, 19, played his first minutes for the Reds in Frisby’s place in Perth.
“It is disappointing to lose Pickle (Frisby). He has played some good rugby for us recently and it would have been beneficial to continue his partnership with Benny Lucas this weekend,” Reds coach Richard Graham said.
Frisby’s injury adds to a long list of scratchings. Quade Cooper (shoulder/hip), Anthony Faingaa (calf), Chris Feauai-Sautia (shoulder), Genia (ankle), Ed Quirk (knee), Dom Shipperley (ankle), Blake Enever (bicep) and Aidan Toua (pectoral) are all sidelined.
