NIC White has re-signed with the Brumbies and the ARU for a further two years as he looks to usurp Will Genia as the Wallabies first choice No.9.

White has been in outstanding form for the Brumbies this season with his kicking game and general match management winning widespread praise.

White displaced Genia as the Wallabies No.9 during last year’s Rugby Championship before the Reds halfback returned to his best to start all five Tests on the spring tour.

But White could reclaim the role for next month’s series against France and is clearly excited by the progress Ewen McKenzie’s side made late last year.

“My time with the Wallabies has been incredible. It’s a privilege to represent your country so to commit to two years with Australian rugby is something I’m very proud of,” White said.

“There were some good signs during last year’s Spring Tour and to be a part of that team moving forward is exciting.

“At both national and provincial level, I feel like I have more to build on and more to contribute, so staying in Australia was always the best option for me at this point in my career.”

The retention of White is further good news for the Brumbies after Matt Toomua revealed he too would be staying in the nation’s capital on Wednesday.

The Brumbies face the Sharks in a top-of-the-table Super Rugby clash on Saturday night.
