THE Waratahs-Brumbies Super Rugby semi-final showdown has been robbed of one of its marquee match-ups, with reports that Brumby Jack has been “banned” from Saturday night’s encounter.

The iconic ACT mascot has, according to the Canberra Times, been denied a request to strut his stuff on the field and will instead have to be content with a seat alongside Brumbies supporters in the Allianz Stadium stands.

That means no clash between Brumby Jack and the NSW mascot, Tah Man. The rivals have history, as a 2010 Rugby HQ video promoting a stoush between the pair proves. Watch the video in the player above.

Sadly, we won’t get to see them lock horns again.

Tah Man will have the Allianz Stadium sidelines to himself.

Andrew Swain and Sean Maloney, hosts of Fox Sports “The Call of the Wallaby” are filthy.

“You’re talking world mascot heavyweights here. This was their ‘Rumble in the Jungle’, their ‘Thriller in Manila’, and they’ve been robbed of it. Shame!” said Swain.

Maloney added: “Ideally we’d be setting up an Octagon in the middle at half-time. Shut the cage door and let them go! I’m not sure the mascot world will survive this kind of setback.”

* Episode two of Call of the Wallaby airs tonight (Tuesday) at 7pm on Fox Sports 1

* The Waratahs host the Brumbies at Allianz Stadium on Saturday night. Coverage of the two Super Rugby semi-finals (Crusaders v Highlanders, followed by Waratahs v Brumbies) begins at 5pm Saturday on Fox Sports 2.
