AUSTRALIA’S Mitch Larkin has qualified second-fastest for the Olympic 200m backstroke final.
The dual world champion clocked 1 minute 54.73 seconds in Wednesday night’s semi-final, finishing second behind Russian pacesetter Evgeny Rylov.
Larkin is expected to battle Rylov and American Ryan Murphy for gold.
Fellow Australian Josh Beaver missed the cut for Thursday night’s final after placing fifth in his semi-final in 1:56.57 - the 10th quickest time.
