Two-time Olympic gold medallist Shayna Jack and Aussie hockey star Joel Rintala have announced their engagement.

In a joint post on Instagram, the pair revealed they have been engaged for the past two weeks, simply posting “10•08•2024” as the announcement.

Jack had won gold as part of the 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle teams in Paris, while also finishing fifth in the 100m freestyle final and eighth in the 50m free.

Rintala, who has played six matches for Australia in hockey, unfortunately didn’t make the Kookaburras squad for the Olympics but appeared to make the most of supporting his partner in Paris.

While it’s unknown where the question was popped as Jack’s previous post two days before the engagement shared a picture alongside fellow Aussie golden girl Ariarne Titmus revealing a post-Olympic trip of Paris to Rome to Greece, writing she was “going offline to live in the moment and reflect on my journey”.

Bronte Campbell, Meg Harris and countless other also shared their congratulations.

The couple have been together since 2016, having celebrated their eight-year anniversary on Anzac Day.

It means they were together during her drug ban after she was forced out of the Tokyo Olympics after she was banned in 2019 and forced out of the sport for two years after testing positive for Ligandrol.

When Jack was selected for the Paris Olympics, she revealed she nearly gave swimming away during her 24-month ban.

She returned to the Australian team at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and has won individual medals at the past two world championships.

“There were probably points where I thought I didn’t want to be an Olympian anymore when I nearly gave up on that dream and I’m really glad I didn’t,” Jack told reporters after qualifying for the Olympics.

“My family, friends and partner are really proud of me no matter what happened tonight and moving forward.

“For the rest of this week this is about me and what I wanted to achieve since I was a young girl. Tonight was a tick off that list, but trying to keep myself composed over the next couple of days.”

Jack isn’t the only Aussie star who has revealed their engagement with her announcement coming days after Bronte Campbell celebrated her engagement to long-time partner Benfield Lainchbury, sharing video and a series of photos from Venice.

“Never know what to do with my hands in photos,” she wrote on a video while showing off her new bling.

The couple were childhood friends and had also been dating since 2016.

Campbell claimed her third Olympic gold medal, having been part of a third straight champion 4x100m freestyle team at the Games.
