The French rugby sevens’ star lighting up Paris who the NRLW needs to sign

Seraphine Okemba is a headline act at the Paris Olympic Games and has it all to take the NRLW to the next level.

ARL Commission chair Peter V’landys is on his way to Paris so why not conduct a little rugby league business when he touches down.

A good start might be a meeting with French sevens player Seraphine Okemba, a 176cm superstar with eye-catching dreadlocks and athleticism to match.

The NRLW is on the rise but Okemba has the potential to accelerate its growth, opening the door for other international sevens stars to make the switch.

The 28-year-old toyed with the United States on Monday night (AEDT), scoring two tries in each half as the French team booked their place in the quarterfinals to the roaring delight of the locals at Stade de France.

Big, fast, powerful. Okemba has it all. NRL clubs should – and would – be licking their lips at the prospect of getting her signature on a contract.

She hasn’t been the only elite sevens athlete to showcase plenty of talent at these Olympics. Australia’s Levi sisters Maddison and Teagan are handy enough to have NRLW and AFLW clubs queuing for their signature.

Irish winger Aimee Murphy Crowe has scored tries for fun. There are rich pickings in Paris and PVL would do well to cast his eyes over the talent on show.

It could be a game changer for the women’s game. Open the cheque book and throw a few dollars their way. Okemba won’t come cheap but she would be worth every cent.
