Seven host and commentator Hamish McLachlan has bobbed up at the Olympics in Paris and of course at his favourite sport – polo.
McLachlan, who hosted the Olympics coverage before Nine won the rights, has been living in France with his family since December last year.
McLachlan attended the athletics with his mum Sylvia visiting from Melbourne, saying he’s loved being a spectator this time. He also attended the Paris Games Polo Challenge on Wednesday, hosted by TGI Sport’s Paul Roberts at the Chantilly Polo Club with guests including TGI Sport’s Tony Box.
He was given the mic to call the International match between France and the USA.
“It’s been an incredible year,’’ McLachlan said.
“I’ll head back to Melbourne for the Brownlow and the grand final. But to be here in Paris with the family is such a privilege. Being able watch these athletes do what they do is breathtaking.
“And the Aussies have performed off the charts! I watched Duplantis break the world record the other night with mum. I’ll never forget it.”
McLachlan, wife Sophie and their children Milla, 11, Indi, 9 and Lexi, 7, moved to a small country town in the south of France called Mougins.
The brother of former AFL chief executive and new Tabcorp boss Gillon McLachlan has loved his new life adventure.
“The time together learning about the world and not being in a rush has meant it’ll be a year to savour. It’s gone very quickly,’’ McLachlan said.
McLachlan has been busy enough while away, watching the footy weekly and talking to all the Brownlow hopefuls, and spent time learning from other broadcasters and codes, including an interview with Tottenham coach Ange Postecoglou in London.
