Millennials trolled for seemingly ignoring Mick Jagger in crowd at Paris Olympics

A group of young spectators at the Paris Olympics have been roasted online for their reaction to the celebrity directly in front of them.

Athletes to watch out for at the 2024 Paris Olympics

Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger has been spotted at the Paris Olympics – but after pictures began circulating it was those seated around him that caused a stir on social media.

Wearing a cap and zip-up hoodie, the 81-year-old celebrity did well to blend into the crowd while watching the fencing at the Grand Palais on Saturday.

So well, in fact, those around him have been trolled online for not looking more excited to be seated near a rock legend.

“Imagine being at the Olympics and being a millennial looking at your cell phone and not knowing you’re next to Mick Jagger himself. Society in decline!” posted a ‘Rock History’ account on X, formerly Twitter, attracting thousands of comments and reposts. It has been viewed more than a million times.

Some fans could not believe what they were seeing and let rip at the young spectators for staring at their phones while at the Olympics.

“What if they’re all texting omg I am sitting next to Mick Jagger,” one person challenged.

“No, they’re just finishing their Insta posts about sitting next to him,” joked another.

Others pointed out Jagger would have appreciated that they left him alone.

“I’m sure he’d prefer to be left alone and not recognised,” one fan wrote.

“I love how Jagger just lives life, throws a lid on, and embeds himself into various cool situations,” agreed another.

“He does this all the time, even when he’s on tour. He just wears somewhat obscure, regular dude clothing and shows up a local clubs and restaurants. He’s so chill and cool,” penned a third.

Jagger was at the event with his seven-year-old son Deveraux “Devi” and longtime girlfriend Melanie Hamrick, 37.

Only the day before, Jagger had celebrated his birthday.

He is certainly not the only celebrity to be spotted in the stands since the Olympics officially kicked off on Friday.

USA gymnast Simone Biles drew a crowd of A-listers on Sunday.

Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Tom Cruise, Greta Gerwig, Snoop Dogg, Nick Jonas, John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Jessica Chastain, Nina Dobrev, Shaun White, American Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and Australian film director Baz Luhrmann were all watching on.
