The pool could turn golden again for the Aussies on night seven as two of our best chances in Cam McEvoy look to step up on the podium in their pet events.
Saya Sakakibara was the quickest qualifier from the BMX racing quarterfinals and will look to add an Olympic gold to her dominance in recent years.
Plus rowing, basketball, water polo and athletics action. Here’s what you can look forward to.
CAM MCEVOY
Cameron McEvoy is already creating history swimming at his fourth Olympic Games, can he go one step further and win Australia’s first medal in the men’s 50m freestyle? The 2023 World Champion is well placed to do so against the likes of Manadou and Dressel.
KAYLEE MCKEOWN
Kaylee McKeown got the chocolates over Regan Smith in the 100m and now it’s time for the Aussie’s preferred distance. This is a remarkable chance for McKeown to create history and defend both her backstroke titles and claim her fourth individual Olympic gold medal.
SAYA SAKAKIBARA
Saya Sakakibara will be looking to add a gold medal to her extensive resume when the BMX racing finals come around on Friday. After everything she’s been through, it would be an incredible triumph and she’s well placed to stand on top of the podium.
BOOMERS
After a disappointing second half against Canada, the Aussies will be looking to round off their group with another win against Greece. They’ll be up against Giannis Antetokounmpo and co, but our boys will be confident they can get the job done.
AUSSIE STINGERS
The Aussies have a great recent record against the Canadians, winning their last match 10-8 and coming out 8-5 victors during their Tokyo Olympics meeting. A fantastic chance to build momentum towards the end of the group stage as they look to keep their undefeated run going.
ANNABELLE MCINTYRE & JESS MORRISON
The Aussie duo are a strong chance of claiming rowing gold in the women's pair after winning their semi-final on Wednesday and registering the second-fastest time on the way through to the final. However, the pair from the Netherlands will be tough to beat.
TEREMOANA TEREMOANA
Teremoana has quickly become a cult hero on the Australian Olympic team and after his first round win, he’s just one more victory away from a medal. Can the Aussie follow on from Harry Garside in Tokyo and add to our boxing collection in his quarterfinal on Friday?
Brock Batty
The teenager was born to compete on the big stage, and after breaking through for his first senior Australian title this year, the 17-year-old is ready to put everything into his routine on the trampoline as he bounces for gold.
