WORLD tennis number one Serena Williams is rooting for the Campbell sisters to take out gold and silver when they go head to head this week, and advised the Australians to “leave it all out in the pool” once the race is done.

Williams — one of the few athletes in the world who knows what it’s like to compete against a sister in elite sport — said she thought it was “really cool” Australians Cate and Bronte were duking it out in the pool this Olympics.

“I hope they can get gold and silver — I always root for sisters!,” Williams said when News Corp Australia asked her about the Campbells.

“As long as there’s no Americans in there.”

After winning gold in the 4 x 100m freestyle relay last night, the Campbell sisters are set to go head to head on Thursday night.

Asked if she had any advice for the girls, she said outside the pool it’s family first.

“You know what — leave it all out in the pool. And once they get out of the pool, family first.”

Williams won her round one match today, defeating Australian Daria Gavrilova in two sets.

Sister Venus crashed out in the first round, but will play doubles with her sister tonight.
