Hockeyroo Rachael Lynch robbed twice while Aussies played in Rio
IN YET another of Rio’s stunning security lapses, thieves somehow made their way into the Hockeyroos dressing room — TWICE.

HOCKEYROOS goal-keeper Rachael Lynch was today a two time victim of Rio’s thieves — before she played for Australia and, amazingly, while she was saving their bacon.
Australia beat Argentina 1-0, with a stunning penalty save by Lynch the talking point of a hard-fought match between the second and third ranked sides in the world.
Lynch channelled her fury at being burgled into her display.
She arrived at the ground to find that her team top with her name and number on it had been stolen by thieves from the gear room.
She put on a spare top and produced an outstanding performance but then returned to the dressing room to find that her street clothes had been taken while she was playing.
In yet another of Rio’s stunning security lapses, thieves somehow made their way into the Hockeyroos dressing room during the match and left with Lynch’s clothes.
“She is obviously very disappointed,’’ coach Adam Commens said.
“She had her everyday gear taken and they stole her (top) out of the equipment room.
“So she does not have any clothes to wear at the moment. I am not sure whether she will have to go back to the village in her goal keeping equipment.
“We will not keep our equipment in the equipment room any more. We will take it back to the village which we did not want to do because it is very heavy and cumbersome.
“We do a have a spare (top) but you like to have your original from the Olympics. Not many people get to go to the Olympics and to get it stolen is really disappointing.’’
If the Hockeyroos win their final pool game against Japan they will be on course for entrance to the quarterfinals.
