AUSTRALIA’S women’s sevens rugby team who won gold at the Rio Olympics has been recognised for their achievement with the production of a stamp in their honour.
The 12-strong Pearls squad feature on the 64th gold medallist stamp since the program began at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
“We are extremely proud of the performance of our women’s rugby sevens team,” said Australian Chef de Mission Kitty Chiller. “It is a great honour for them to win a gold medal for their country and fulfil their Olympic dreams. Having this incredible moment immortalised on a stamp is a wonderful way for Australia to honour them in return.”
The players are Nicole Beck, Charlotte Caslick, Emilee Cherry, Chloe Dalton, Gemma Etheridge, Ellia Green, Shannon Parry, Evania Pelite, Alicia Quirk, Emma Tonegato, Amy Turner, Shari Williams.
