And it appears that most of them enjoy the same thing during their break — getting inked.
Players have plastered their extensive tattoo collections on social media, showing them off to their avid followers.
Roosters star Latrell Mitchell was the first player to go under the needle, opting for a detailed forearm piece paying tribute to his indigenous heritage.
“Thanks to the brother @chris_showstoppr maddest piece! Wanted to get something to represent my culture but also the man who’s done a lot to get me where I am. Couldn’t be anymore grateful. Ps lub you mum (sic),” he wrote on Instagram.
Wests Tigers recruit Chris McQueen also added to his heavily tattooed body with a sleeve inspired by the Batman franchise.
“Thanks to the lad @tater_tatts for adding more to my Dark Knight sleeve. Catwoman was done 3 weeks ago and is pretty much healed, Batman and the buildings are fresh,” he wrote.
The comic book tattoo is the latest pop culture refence the second-rower has on his body, with McQueen also the proud owner of a Dragon Ball Z leg sleeve, along with Pokemon and Harry Potter related tattoos.
Melbourne star Josh Addo-Carr already has a number of tattoos including a piece extending across his entire chest, but he hasn’t stopped there with an Instagram story shared over the weekend showing he was back in the chair getting a massive leg tattoo.
A couple of days later he shared the finished product of his “KURRAMURRA” leg tattoo.
