Ryan Matterson’s exit from the Wests Tigers is imminent after the backrower met with Parramatta officials on Tuesday.
The Daily Telegraph understands the talks between Matterson and the Eels, his junior side, are only preliminary and coach Brad Arthur wasn’t at the meeting.
The Eels also have no desire to pay any sort of monetary compensation to the Tigers to make the deal happen.
Matterson was granted permission to speak to other clubs despite having two more seasons remaining on his contract.
The forward is unhappy with the value of his current deal and is seeking an upgrade.
It’s believed the Tigers are floating the idea of placing a transfer fee to allow Matterson to move on to another club.
