It has become almost a biannual question to Moses Mbye since he made his NRL debut in 2014.

“So Moses have you finally found your position?”

After ‘finding a home’ at fullback during the pre-season, Mbye was shifted to centre — another new position — in round 14.

Mbye has now given fullback, centre, five-eighth, halfback and hooker a crack during his 119-game career. The flexibility hasn’t been all bad for Mbye with his utility value contributing to the 25-year-old earning his Origin debut earlier this year.

“Everyone time you’ve asked me I’m probably not quite sure where I’m going to be,” Mbye laughed when asked if he had finally found his spot.

“I don’t know yet. I don’t think anyone has worked it out hence the reason why I’m jumping around.

“It’s been good. I’ve been enjoying it. I found myself in another spot. I’ve played everywhere now. I feel like the last few weeks I’ve found consistency in my game which is good and helping the team.

“When you’re out there (playing in the centres) you’re isolated and the defensive decisions become more important. When they go wrong they go horribly wrong. I’ve been working on that a lot with Madge (coach Michael Maguire) and our edge. Building those connections with the winger and halfback.”

Looking ahead, Mbye has been touted as a potential replacement to the retiring Robbie Farah in the No. 9 jersey. He said he was yet to have that conversation with Maguire and anticipated the re-signed Jacob Liddle would fill Farah’s void instead of himself.

Regardless of what number Mbye has on his back, he is continuing to lead a Tigers side who have their finals destiny in their hands.

They came into this round inside the top eight but could fall out with a loss to Mbye’s former club Canterbury on Saturday night.

“We’ve put ourselves in a position now to achieve (finals football),” Mbye said. “Anything less is disappointing.

“Our performance (against North Queensland last week) was the most complete performance we’ve had this year in terms of putting 80 minutes together. I thought we executed quite well.

“We’ve shown quality in patches but haven’t done it for a long period of time.

“Our big problem is consistency. The guys who have won the competition are the sides that are consistent — Melbourne, the Roosters.

“Our goal is to string some quality games together and build some consistency.”
