Manly Sea Eagles re-sign Ben Trbojevic to two-year extension

Manly are a step closer to having three brothers play in the one first grade team after the younger sibling of Tom and Jake Trbojevic committed his future to the Sea Eagles.

He grew up playing footy with his brothers in the backyard and now Ben Trbojevic is one step closer to joining Jake and Tom at NRL level after re-signing with Manly.

The Sea Eagles have completed the family coup by signing the younger Trbojevic to a two-year deal.

The news comes just a week after Jake and Tom confirmed they would retire as one-club legends after snubbing multimillion-dollar offers from rival NRL clubs to sign massive contract extensions.

The local junior, 18, has been progressing through the Sea Eagles’ ranks from Harold Matthews and SG Ball junior representative teams Jersey Flegg in 2019.

His elevation to the Sea Eagles’ senior squad follows long-held expectations on the peninsula that Ben will join his brothers and play NRL. It’s now believed he will press for first grade selection sooner rather than later.

The Mona Vale Raiders junior is a rising centre and edge forward who has represented NSW at both under-16 and under-18 level.

“Ben is a very talented young player who has done well coming through our junior ranks,’’ Hasler told the Sea Eagles’ website.

“There is no doubt he has plenty of ability and it’s now a matter of further developing his game and bringing him through slowly as he steps up to the next level.”

Manly have never had three brothers play first grade together in the club’s 72-year history.

The two Blake brothers, Phil and Michael, played alongside each other at Manly in the early 1980s. Then came Brett and Glenn Stewart, Darcy and Joey Lussick and Kieran and Liam Foran — but never three brothers.
