Nearly 100 NRL players are still without contracts for the 2020 season, including established stars like Canberra’s Jordan Rapana, Brisbane’s James Segeyaro and Cronulla’s Kurt Capewell.
Salary cap constraints could see Rapana squeezed out at the Raiders and while the club has been in discussions with his agent they are yet to table any offer, contrary to initial reports.
The winger won’t make a decision on his future until the season is over.
In further indications that Rapana will leave the club, rookie winger Bailey Simonsson has been rewarded for a breakout NRL season with a contract extension until the end of 2023.

Simonsson has played 19 matches in his debut campaign and has often been used to plug holes in the injury-struck Raiders backline.
The 21-year-old has been primarily used as a winger but has also played fullback, centre and off the bench, scoring eighttries.
A humiliating 58-0 loss at the hands of Parramatta has seen the Broncos plunged into crisis mode with the futures of some of their biggest stars, including Darius Boyd, Jack Bird and Corey Oates up in the air.
But there is one player who looks set to extend his time at Red Hill.

Raiders star could be rugby bound
The Saturday Telegraph understands the Broncos have tabled hooker Segeyaro an offer to remain at the club, which he is currently weighing up.
Cronulla supersub Capewell is another who could fall victim to the salary cap. He’s attracted interest from the New Zealand Warriors and the Gold Coast Titans. But the Saturday Telegraph can reveal the Sharks have offered Capewell a one-year extension.
There won’t be another last-minute reprieve for Michael Lichaa at Canterbury after the club confirmed the re-signing of Jeremy Marshall King and the recruitment of former Penrith hooker Sione Katoa.
The hooker was farewelled during the club’s 2017 presentation night but incoming coach Dean Pay handed him a two-year deal.
It’s understood there has been preliminary interest from the likes of his junior side the Sharks and Wests Tigers — who have lost hookers Robbie Farah (retirement) and Jacob Liddle (ACL) for next year.
Other notable movements that are likely to transpire over the off-season include:
Dylan Walker: As it stands the Manly Sea Eagles have not tabled an extension and official negotiations with the club won’t start until his season is over.
Christian Welch: The Melbourne forward had activated a player option for 2020 before he suffered an ACL injury in August.
The Daily Telegraph understands that the Eels are still interested in acquiring Welch and will resume talks with him over the pre-season.
Michael Jennings: The Eels centre told The Daily Telegraph he is staying at Parramatta and his new deal is being drafted. There could be a minor sticking point however, Jennings is after a two-year extension but it’s understood the club initially only offered one year.
Brad Takairangi: The deal is yet to be formalised but the forward utility will remain at the Eels after he was offered a one-year extension for season 2020.
Josh Hoffman: The outside back doesn’t have an offer at the Eels and is keen to return to Queensland.
Issac Luke: The Warriors rake went on a social media self-promotion mission offering up his services to any takers. After moving on Api Koroisau, it’s believed The Manly Sea Eagles have had a nibble at the hooker with the other option being the Tigers.
Tristan Sailor: Sailor, the son of former league great Wendell, made his NRL debut in round 23 and is destined to sign a two-year extension with the Dragons.
