There could be some big moves in the Flanagan household. Cronulla halfback Kyle looks set to join the Roosters, while former coach Shane could take over at Canterbury next year.

Coach Shane Flanagan to the Bulldogs and his son Kyle to the Roosters.

Those are the dramatic developments happening within the Flanagan family as the pair looks set to find new homes in the NRL.

The Sunday Telegraph can reveal Sharks halfback Kyle is likely to be joining the Roosters before the June 30 transfer deadline because he is about to lose his first-grade position to superstar Shaun Johnson, who is returning from injury.

Flanagan would fill in for Luke Keary at the Roosters and then get an opportunity to learn under the experienced Cooper Cronk for the remainder of the season.

Meanwhile, his dad, Cronulla’s 2016 premiership-winning coach, is being sounded out at Belmore.

The Bulldogs insist coach Dean Pay’s immediate future is secure but refuse to rule out Flanagan as the long-term successor.

Flanagan is serving an indefinite NRL ban but is likely to be cleared next year for a return in 2021 when Pay will have completed his contract.

Flanagan has already been approached by an influential Canterbury board member, although this will probably be denied because no one wants to upset Pay.

The Bulldogs believe Flanagan is the man to rebuild a club that has been struggling under enormous salary cap pressure since Des Hasler left.

The Dogs would have to approach the NRL to get a clearance for Flanagan to resume coaching.

He was banned indefinitely for being caught communicating with the Sharks while under suspension in 2014 and for his role in the club’s salary cap scandal.
