Manly coach Des Hasler is wary of the besieged Broncos ahead of Friday night’s Magic Round clash at Suncorp Stadium.

Brisbane, desperate for a win following their 2-6 start to the season, come up against a red-hot Manly side.

The Broncos have made a raft of changes, including dropping speedster James Roberts out of the squad and relegating winger Jamayne Isaako to an extended bench.

The Sea Eagles are in fine form, having won five of their past six games despite halfback Daly Cherry-Evans (ankle) and fullback Tom Trbojevic (hamstring) suffering injuries.

Hasler expected the young Broncos side to play with pride tonight as they searched for their third win of the year.

“They will come out pretty hard,” Hasler said.

“It’s going to be a really fast opening game.

“With pride comes wanting to do something about that and to turn that around.

“They’re a young, enthusiastic side so they’ll come out hard.”

Hasler’s poor record in Queensland will be a glimmer of hope for the young Broncos pack Hasler has won just two of his past 11 games in the Sunshine State, and has just one victory from his past seven matches at Suncorp Stadium.

The Manly mentor said the Broncos would be out to “put on a show” in front of their fans.

“We’re expecting a lot of energy … particularly with a crowd of 45,000 and a lot of that energy will be behind the Broncos,” he said.

“It’s important that we are ready for that.

“No one likes coming off a loss last week, so (the Broncos) will want to get back there in front of their home crowd … and they’ll want to put on a good show.”
