SuperCoach NRL: Five things we learnt from Brisbane Broncos vs Canterbury Bulldogs
One of SuperCoach’s most popular players delivered in a big way as another failed to fire in Brisbane’s demolition over Canterbury. Here are the five things we learned from Thursday footy.
The opening to round eight delivered a demolition job that caught everybody out.
Canterbury’s highly praised defence was breached within minutes by the Broncos, who pumped out a 34-0 first half.
Brisbane went on to record a convincing 42-18 victory, handing the Bulldogs their first loss of the season and making a statement in the process.
Here are the five things learnt from Thursday footy:
UNLUCKY TIMING
Spare a thought for the 7041 SuperCoaches who brought Jacob Kiraz into their teams this week.
After missing the first four games, people have been waiting for the right time to bring the expensive winger into their side.
Tonight was not the night, posting just two points in the first half before going on for a very modest total of 36.
REYNOLDS ON TOP
It looked like Adam Reynolds might come off in the opening 10 minutes when he clutched at a shoulder after scoring a try.
He added three try assists in the half to post a monster tally of 108 in the opening 40 that had our statisticians reaching for the record books.
It marks his third century of the season, great output for a halfback in his price range.
Although he’s not an automatic buy after coming from the field in the final minutes with a shoulder injury.
STAGGS MISSES INVITE
The Broncos outside backs feasted on the Bulldogs – but Kotoni Staggs’ invite got lost in the mail.
He was the only one not to get across the line and his score to a big hit as a result.
His average score takes a big hit as owners desperately wait for the former Blue to go ballistic.
HIT THAT SELL BUTTON
If you haven’t already sold popular pre-season cheapie Cory Paix, now is the time.
Billy Walters again started and played 52 minutes, leaving a small window for Paix to feature.
Scores of 32, 27 and 24 (with a late try assist) make him an easy sell.
NEVER DOUBT THE HAAS
Payne Haas is in close to 93,000 SuperCoach teams and the SC King delivered in a big way.
The loop will be in full effect for those that slapped him with the VC tag, while those who were brave and captained the great man can rest easy.
He piled on the points with a 117-point score, another mammoth effort.
