Parramatta Eels reportedly withdraw $1.2m deal for Nathan Brown

Nathan Brown’s future is in jeopardy after the Parramatta Eels reportedly withdrew a $1.2 million contract offer for the star forward.

Nathan Brown’s future is up in the air after the Parramatta Eels reportedly withdrew their initial contract offer for the State of Origin star.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported Parramatta offered Brown a two-year, $1.2 million deal several months ago, which the 28-year-old was unwilling to sign.
According to the report, the back-rower wanted a longer contract with the club, but the Eels have since pulled their initial offer after he missed the cut-off date.

Brown’s management is reportedly embroiled in active contract negotiations with Parramatta, but the powerhouse lock has also received some interest from Manly.

Parramatta teammates Mitchell Moses and Ryan Matterson are also technically off-contract, and have the option to leave the club at the end of the season.

Following stints with the Wests Tigers and South Sydney Rabbitohs, Brown joined the Eels in 2017, receiving the illustrious Ken Thornett medal in his maiden season.

He made his debut for the New South Wales Blues during last year’s unsuccessful State of Origin campaign, and played three Tests for Italy in 2017.

Brown has played represented Parramatta in 73 NRL games, establishing a reputation as one of the club’s toughest forwards.

Having secured wins in the opening two rounds, the Eels will next face the Cronulla Sharks at Bankwest Stadium on Saturday evening.
