Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has suffered an unfortunate injury blow — whilst celebrating Corey Harawira-Naera’s match-sealing try.

The 27-year-old was able to finish a Jamal Fogarty grubber only millimetres from the dead-ball line, prompting Stuart to jump from the bench.

But the 55-year-old instantly grabbed at his leg in a blow that could see him sitting back in the coaches’ box for weeks to come.

The moment had Fox League’s commentators in stitches as the Raiders sealed a huge comeback victory, overcoming a 14-0 halftime deficit to win 26-14.

“Ricky Stuart is up and riding,” Warren Smith said.

“He has done a fetlock,” Steve Roach said.

“He might have done you know... he clutched at that knee like Xavier Savage, he has done a patella tendon,” Smith said.

“He is laughing it out now... he will be on the physio table after full-time himself.”

“He’ll be out for eight weeks,” Roach joked.

Stuart revealed the extent of the injury in the post-match press conference — breaking the news no Raiders fan wanted to hear.

“It was the first game I have coached where I have pulled up sorer than the players,” Stuart said in the post-match press conference.

“The excitement got me, it was when Corey Harawira-Naera went over for his try I went down, tore a calf.”
