It’s been a huge day of rugby league as teams fight to either stay in the hunt for finals or retain their place in the top eight.

Discover the winners and losers below.

SUPERCOACH WINNERS

1. Grant Anderson (80pts) – The Storm winger was in everything against Sydney. He scored two tries, ran for 151m, had a tackle break and two line breaks.

2. Harry Grant (74pts) – The Melbourne hooker was all class. He had two tackle breaks and made 33 tackles.

3. Deine Mariner (126pts) – Another energetic performance from the youngster who scored two tries, had three line breaks and ran 171m.

4. Reece Walsh (111pts) – The fullback wasn’t without error but did some sublime things on the field. Walsh ran for a huge 183m, scored a try and assisted with two others.

5. Ezra Mam (85pts) – A try, try assist, 195m of running and a line break. Fair to say Mam enjoyed his night.

6. Tallyn Da Silva (96pts) – The 19-year-old hooker was one of the Tigers best, racing out to a huge SuperCoach tally before halftime with a try and try assist. Quieter after the break and came off for an HIA late in the contest.

7. Taane Milne (93pts) ¬ Milne collected three first-half try assists as the Rabbitohs’ left edge tore apart the Wests defence. Milne entered round 20 at an affordable $426,900 so great performance considering his price tag.

8. Alex Johnston (77pts) – The prolific Rabbitohs winger was at it again on Saturday afternoon with another stellar performance. He entered the match with a -7 BE but could still be a good pickup for Coaches looking for a cheap POD in the CTW position.

9. Damien Cook (89pts) – Cook played most of the game at right centre and was a solid plug, playing a simple game and doing his role for the team. The crafty Rabbitoh was also exceptional from the tee, kicking seven of eight attempts at goal.

10. Lachlan Galvin (83pts) – This kid just never backs down, putting in another great performance in a losing side. Galvin is always looking for work and has a great offloading ability.

SUPERCOACH LOSERS

1. James Tedesco (30pts) – The fullback played 80 minutes but just couldn’t inject himself into the game as much as he would have liked.

2. William Warbrick (28pts) – All the action was on the other side of the field so it made it very hard for the Storm player to get involved. Quiet night out.

3. Patrick Carrigan (30pts) – The big man did some courageous things but just lacked the tank to execute all game after his incredible effort in the State of Origin decider.

4. Tyson Gamble (30pts) – His return didn’t bring with it huge points. He managed to get through 65 minutes and will be hoping to improve from here.

5. Richard Kennar (4pts) – The South Sydney centre was unfortunately ruled out of the game early with a head injury and didn’t get the opportunity to feature.

6. Aidan Sezer (32pts) – Sezer will face being sidelined for a period of time after committing a sickening hip-drop tackle on Jye Gray. His sin-bin hurt his score too.

7. Jordan Miller (8pts) – Only 14 minutes off the interchange for Miller, who simply didn’t get the chance to do anything on the field.

8. Jacob Gagai (36pts) – Gagai had one memorable run down the right touchline but it was a relatively quiet night for the Rabbitohs right edge after Richard Kennar was injured, moving Damien Cook to centre and starving the wing of any ball.

9. Davvy Moale (52pts) – Pretty rich to call a try and 52 points a bust, but owners would have been disappointed that the barnstorming middle forward didn’t return for a second stint after being outstanding in the first 21 minutes of the match.

FULLTIME - Melbourne 24-8

Sualauvi Faalogo has swanned dived over to put the cherry on top for Melbourne in the final two minutes.

Faalogo played at a Sam Walker kick, gathered the loose ball 35m out and waltzed under the posts. It’s been a hell of a game from the ladder leaders. Grant Anderson looked to hyperextend his knee in the final play in what may be the only negative for the Storm.

66th minute - Melbourne Storm 18-8

Dominic Young has scored in the right corner for Sydney and the Roosters are not quite out of it yet.

Melbourne’s attempted short drop-out put the Roosters on the tryline from the first tackle and Young cleaned up.

63rd minute - Melbourne Storm 18-4

There may be just as many tackles off the ball as there are on it tonight.

The Roosters have given away another penalty, this time when Ryan Papenhuyzen was taken down.

Melbourne are going to add two more points. Jahrome Hughes looked in trouble for a moment but he seems to be walking off a corked leg.

54th minute - Melbourne Storm 16-4

A third sin-bin of the night! What is in the water in Victoria.

Connor Watson has man handled Grant Anderson as he attempted to chase down a kick from teammate Harry Grant.

Watson felt the pressure and the professional foul followed.

46th minute - Melbourne Storm 14-4

Victor Radley is back on and now it’s Melbourne’s turn to go a man down.

Storm’s Joe Chan has been sent to the bin in another addition to one of the most lively games of footy this season.

Can the Roosters capitalise and get back in the game?

HALFTIME minute - Melbourne 14-4

Victor Radley has been sent for 10 minutes in the bin! It is absolute scenes in Melbourne tonight.

Grant Anderson was flying down the left wing and put in a grubber before Radley opted to take him out without the ball. The referee wasn’t a fan of the move it seems.

The worst thing for Radley is Anderson went on to score straight after.

32nd minute - Melbourne 10-4

Grant Anderson has been denied a second try after it was deemed Melbourne knocked the ball on in the lead up. The added buffer going into halftime would have had the Storm feeling comfortable.

Instead they have given away a penalty on the back of it and now Sydney are charging into some solid field position.

26th minute - Melbourne 10-4

Daniel Tupou has scored in the left corner in what fans hope changes the momentum of the game.

Sam Walker floated a beautiful ball across multiple defenders to hit a charging Tupou who couldn’t be stopped.

An interesting sub-plot is Brandon Smith’s battle against his old Melbourne teammates.

He has been rattled a few times into the turf but dished out some great shots of his own. There needs to be an option to just watch him!

18th minute - Melbourne 10-0

The Storm have come to play tonight! The powerhouse side that leads the competition looks like it could record a huge score tonight and the Roosters need to get a wriggle on.

Jack Howarth opened the scoring and Grant Anderson followed it up minutes later for a team that has already had four line breaks.

MELBOURNE STORM V SYDNEY ROOSTERS LATE MAIL

Queensland hooker Harry Grant is a confirmed starter after backing up from Origin and centre Nick Meaney returns from a calf injury but it isn’t all good news for the Storm.

Christian Welch has been ruled out with a back injury, a blow to a team that also lost Nelson Asofa-Solomona.

For the Rosters Naufahu Whyte is a late starter, with prop Lindsay Collins going to the bench. NSW representatitves Angus Crichton, Spencer Leniu and Connor Watson will all back up after Origin.

FULLTIME - BRISBANE 30-14

The Broncos have leapfrogged both New Zealand and Newcastle to move from 13th to 11th on the ladder.

The win snapped a six game losing streak and kept Brisbane’s finals hopes alive.

Newcastle now have the same win-loss ratio (8-10) as the Broncos.

Brisbane Broncos v Newcastle Knights

74th minute - Brisbane 30-14

Someone tell Brisbane the final whistle hasn’t gone yet.

The Broncos seemed to have become comfortable in the final 20 minutes of the game and the deficit has been cut from 26 to 16 as a result.

Newcastle’s Greg Marzhew is the latest Knight to charge over.

68th minute - Brisbane 30-10

Mat Croker has scored a try that won’t really do Newcastle any major favours given the game is gone but SuperCoach players with the Knight in their team will at least be revelling in the added points!

61st minute - Brisbane 30-4

Brendan Piakura has gone off the field with a groin injury and is unlikely to return to the field.

Moments later Reece Walsh has kicked the ball out on the full to give the Knights a chance.

So what do the Knights do? Throw it over the sideline of course.

Deine Mariner has decided to just take matters into his own hands and burst through the line before putting Ezra Mam under the posts.

54th minute - Brisbane 24-4

Newcastle has decided to try and climb the mountain.

Jack Hetherington has given his side a glimmer of hope by crossing on the right-hand side but the missed conversion by Jackson Hastings hasn’t helped the club’s cause.

49th minute - Brisbane 24-0

Brisbane are looking like the side that went to last year’s grand final.

Adam Reynolds and Reece Walsh combined again to put Brendan Piakura over.

It may be best to look away now Knights fans.

HALFTIME- Brisbane 18-0

Deine Mariner has got his double and it’s Reece Walsh who had his fingerprints all over another try.

Walsh was too quick down the left edge again and a sharp ball to Mariner was all it took for Brisbane to get its third try.

It’s hard to see the Broncos losing this in the second half but stranger things have happened.

29th minute - Brisbane 12-0

Fullback Reece Walsh has accelerated to top gear to score on the left edge and give Brisbane’s finals hopes a boost.

Walsh burst away after the team had a scrum 20m out from Newcastle’s line and the Knights couldn’t close the gaps fast enough.

23rd minute - Brisbane 6-0

SuperCoach users who have Tyson Gamble in their side can breathe a sidgh of relief with the Knight given the green light to return.

It isn’t all good news though with Brisbane breaking through to score through Deine Mariner after multiple sets on the Knights line.

11th minute - 0-0

It’s been a nightmare start for Newcastle with both Bradman Best and Tyson Gamble forced off the field.

Best has injured his hamstring and is unlikely to return while Gamble is undergoing a head injury assessment.

8th minute - 0-0

Completed sets a rarity early as both sides struggle to hang on to the ball.

Brisbane have got through just one of its first four sets while Newcastle have got through two of five.

The respective coaches for both clubs would be livid.

To top if all off Ezra Mam has dropped the ball in front of the goal line after Reece Walsh broke through the line and put a perfect kick in.

BRISBANE V NEWCASTLE - LATE MAIL

All eyes are on Adam Reynolds who is set to make his return from a bicep injury for the Broncos alongside Origin stars Pat Carrigan, Payne Haas and Reece Walsh.

Selwyn Cobbo won’t be sighted while Xavier and Willison and Kobe Hetherington are on the bench.

For Newcastle Tyson Gamble is a late inclusion while NSW Origin representative Bradman Best is also included.

Both teams are fighting to keep their finals hopes alive. Let the SuperCoach scores settle it!

FULL TIME – Souths 42-28

The Rabbitohs have leaprogged the Warriors, Titans and Broncos into 12th place on the ladder with a statement win in Gosford.

Wests can be proud of parts of their performance but there are some serious issues they still need to address.

Let’s hope the next two games are just as exciting.

73rd minute – Souths 42-28

This scoreline doesn’t reflect the intesnity of this game.

Both teams were electric but another simple Tigers error once again opened the gate for South Sydney to score out wide through fullback Jye Gray.

Damien Cook came close to scoring a try himself, but will have to settle for nailing another sideline conversion.

68th minute – Souths 36-28

A sickening hip-drop tackle by Aisan Sezer will likely see the Tigers halfback spend a lengthy stint on the sideline after an ugly tackle on Rabbitohs fullback Jye Gray.

Wests Tigers continue to put pressure on themselves with errors and penalties, and now they have to defend for the next 10 minutes with a player in the sin bin.

64th minute – Souths 36-28

Bang, bang.

Just like that the Bunnies have an eight-point buffer and they’re rolling in attack.

This has been a messy game with far too missed tackles but it looks like South Sydney will continue its march up the ladder with another win.

60th minute – Souths 30-28

The Tigers have been their own worst enemy this half, shooting themselves in the foot again with a horrific error deep in their own half.

Cody Walker scores his second try of the game – his 15th career double – and Damien Cook nailed another conversion.

Just as one team seems to have taken control of the match it swings back the other way.

The only safe bet from here is that there’ll be at least one more twist.

55th minute – Tigers 28-24

South Sydney simply can’t keep up with the freeflowing Tigers as they move the ball from sideline to sideline.

Can Wests keep up the intensity for the next half-hour to seal a spectacular upset victory?

47th minute – Souths 24-22

The Tigers just won’t go away, scoring again down the right edge through Charlie Staines.

The Rabbitohs are probably regretting kicking that two instead of mounting the pressure, which was all relieved with the penalty goal.

Aidan Sezer’s sideline conversion narrowly missed, his first unsuccessful kick of the afternoon.

44th minute – Souths 24-18

The Bunnies drew first blood just after the break, strangely opting to take a shot at goal after the Tigers gave away four consecutive set restarts and penalties defending their own line.

I suppose that’s a show of respect for their opposition.

Tallis Duncan’s headgear is off after he did his typical halftime switch.

HALFTIME – Souths 22-18

The Tigers ran the length of the field to score on the stroke of halftime with some more outstanding passing.

What a heartbreaker for the Bunnies who had fought hard to get back into a commanding position.

This game promises to have plenty more action after the break.

37th minute – Souths 22-12

Taane Milne has his third try assist already, once again setting up Alex Johnston in the left corner.

The Tigers are playing some scintillating footy, throwing offloads at will and spreading the ball from one side of the field to the other with some pretty clean passing.

But when South Sydney is in the red zone they have simply been unstoppable.

Damien Cook nailed his toughest conversion attempt of the game.

27th minute – Souths 16-12

Taane Milne has his second try assist of the first half, sucking in Charlie Staines from dummy half to open up Alex Johnston on the wing for the 194th try of his career.

Cook seems to have found his kicking radar with another fantastic conversion.

This game has already seen five tries and it does’t show any signs of slowing down.

19th minute – Tigers 12-10

Back-to-back tries has the Tigers in front after a horror start.

After assisting his teammate minutes earlier, Tallyn Da Silva scored from dummy half to stun the Bunnies.

The 19-year-old hooker, who is standing in for captain Api Koroisau, is already up to 75 SuperCoach points.

Richard Kennar’s afternoon might be over after getting his head caught in an uncomfortable position while attempting a tackle. Damien Cook has slotted into the centres.

16th minute – Souths 10-6

Two tigers teenagers linked up to get Wests back in the game as hooker Tallyn Da Silva sliced through a gap and found five-eighth Lachlan Galvin for a sweet try.

It’s not all doom and gloom for the Tigers today and it’s good to see them at least hit the board in the early stages.

Da Silva and Davvy Moale lead SuperCoach scoring so far.

10th minute – Souths 10-0

You don’t see that every day, as centre Taane Milne grubbers for halfback Cody Walker to sweep in behind the defence and score South Sydney’s second of the afternoon.

Damien Cook’s second conversion attempt from basically the exact same spot as his first was much nicer, sailing between the posts.

The Tigers kicked the ensuing restart over the dead ball line on the fall, compounding Wests’ woes.

6th minute – Souths 4-0

Very ominous signs for Wests early as Davvy Moale strolls over from close range to get the Bunnies on the board.

That was far too easy and Tigers fans could be in for a long afternoon in Gosford.

TEAM NEWS

Rising Rabbitohs talent Tallis Duncan will start on the edge for South Sydney after NSW Origin star Cameron Murray was suspended for his involvement in a Wednesday night fracas.

That paved the way for Liam Le Blanc to join the interchange from the reserves.

The Tigers enter the clash unchanged 1-17 as they fight to salvage some sense of success from their season.

The Wests Tigers are desperate to avoid another wooden spoon while the Rabbitohs are hoping to continue a run of form that has seen them win three of their last four matches.

What is set to follow might not be champagne rugby league, but it will be entertaining.

The top SuperCoach prospects at each club – Latrell Mitchell and Api Koroisau – are out of the game but there’s still plenty of interest in the game.

Keaon Koloamatangi has been a revelation since moving to lock for the Rabbitohs regularly pumping out 60+ in pure base.

Cody Walker has wound back the clock and after a modest start to the season he has scored over 70 in four of his past six matches. The Tigers have been leaking big points to rival halves all year and Walker looks like a great vice-captain option for those that have him.

Lachlan Galvin has been a rare good news story for the Tigers but after being well held by the Sharks last week his BE is just under 100 for this week and those that have not already sold him will be hoping for a big game here.
