NRL bosses Todd Greenberg and John Grant away at Four Nations while clubs wait for answers

NO one would mind Todd Greenberg and John Grant being at the Four Nations if they hadn’t left such a mess at home, writes PHIL ROTHFIELD.

NO one would mind NRL bosses Todd Greenberg and John Grant spending three weeks in England at the Four Nations tournament if they hadn’t left such a mess at home.

It must be hard to explain to the 16 NRL clubs there is not enough money to go around when the game’s two most senior officials are in the northern hemisphere watching football.

Grant and Greenberg never turn right when they step on to an aircraft and stay in five-star accommodation. Another NRL employee from government relations is in the UK too, all away until November 23.

Meanwhile, the clubs are in revolt. They have been trying for 12 months to get answers on future funding and the salary cap from 2018 onwards.

They feel far too much money is being wasted on:

Two referees when the World Club Challenge has shown one is sufficient;

That millions have been spent on setting up and staffing the video bunker which might have sped up decision-making but failed to reduce errors;

Or the size of the NRL administration. The government relations staff. Consultants; and

Too much extravagance throughout the administration.
