THE immediate future of Sydney Roosters star Jayden Nikorima is in jeopardy amid allegations he has twice tested positive to illicit drugs in the last 12 months.

Under NRL regulations the $350,00-a-year recruit from the Brisbane Broncos faces a 12-week ban, the same former Sharks star Ben Barba was hit with this time last year.

Nikorima is appealing the finding, claiming he has vital evidence that will clear his name.

The Roosters have been trying to off-load Nikorima to help them fit superstar signing Cooper Cronk for 2018.

Ironically, Cronk has signed with the Roosters in part to clean up the club’s culture and off-field dramas that have resulted in the sackings of Shaun Kenny-Dowall and Paul Carter.

The Roosters and the NRL are refusing to comment under the strict NRL and ASADA protocol.
