‘Building something special’: Adam Reynolds to finish career at Broncos as club goes on re-signing spree

Contract speculation won’t haunt this NRL club for the rest of the year after three key players put pen to paper on new deals.

Veteran halfback Adam Reynolds will finish his NRL career at the Broncos after he penned a new one-year deal, with Brisbane also re-signing Kotoni Staggs and Blake Mozer, putting pressure on the club to keep Selwyn Cobbo.

Reynolds had been linked with a potential move to the Wests Tigers, but those rumours have officially been quashed with the Broncos skipper to stay put until the end of the 2026 season.

Reynolds will be 36 when that deal expires, with the champion playmaker expected to take up a coaching role with the club when he hangs up the boots after falling in love with the area following his move from Souths ahead of the 2022 season.

“The club and city have welcomed me and my family with open arms, family means everything to me and this is home,” he said.

“We are really building something special here and I want to be a part of that moving forward.

“To be able to finish my career at the club which has given me so much over the past few seasons means a lot to me.”

Meanwhile, Staggs has signed a three-year extension that will keep him at the Broncos until the end of the 2028 season.

The powerful centre’s intention was always to stay, although the decision to keep Staggs could spell the end of Cobbo’s career in Brisbane given he’s lost his spot in the NRL side and will command big bucks on the open market.

“I’m grateful to be able to stay with the club that has supported me since I was a kid and stuck by me as I developed as a player and person,” Staggs said.

“It means a lot to play in the Broncos jersey, every time I put it on I wear it with heart and leave everything on the field.”

The club also re-signed young hooker Blake Mozer for a further two seasons, with big things expected of a young man who joined the team’s junior development program when he was just 13.

“Reyno has led from the front since he joined in 2022, and I’m delighted that he’ll continue on in 2026,” Broncos chief executive Dave Donaghy said.

“Kotoni began his journey at the Broncos as a young teenager and it’s been a pleasure to watch him grow into the leader he is today.

“Blake has progressed through the Academy program and has grown with the club’s values, ensuring he will play a big role in the Broncos’ sustained success.”
