NORTH Melbourne might have missed out on Andrew Gaff but the Kangas aren’t sitting on their hands, the Roos today emerging as one of the biggest players in the opening week of AFL trade period.
Just days after learning Gaff had opted to stay at West Coast, North Melbourne has gotten busy by completing a double raid on Port Adelaide, nabbing Jared Polec and Jasper Pittard.
The Kangas will also receive pick 48 in this year’s draft. In exchange North Melbourne has handed pick 11 and their 2019 fourth-round pick to the Power.

The trade injects some serious outside pace and skill to North’s midfield and halfback line.
“Jared has been an outstanding player and is coming off a career-best year,” Kangas footy manager Cam Joyce said.
“He will no doubt add a tremendous amount of run and class to our list, playing in the midfield and on a wing.”
Pittard has played 126 matches after being selected with pick 16 in 2009.
“Jasper is a highly skilled defender who can do a lot of damage with his rebound and run,” Joyce added.
“He is an excellent player to have across half-back.”
North Melbourne has already announced it’s set to bring in Gold Coast ballwinner Aaron Hall.
But there will be departures from Arden Street.
Young North Melbourne midfielder Ryan Clarke is also likely to get to Sydney today in a swap for a late draft pick.
Clarke has played 40 games since being recruited with pick 31 in the 2015 draft, including 19 this year.
And big man Braydon Preuss looks certain to join Melbourne on a multi-year deal.
