The son and nephew of Wallabies players and an ‘electric’’ teen were among the Gen Blue Waratah U16s stars in round two of the national rugby championships. Standouts, scorers.

Last week it was the Zach Fittler, the son of a NRL gun Brad, who turned heads for the NSW Waratah Gen Blue team in the U16 national rugby championships.

On Sunday in Sydney it was the son and nephew of two Wallabies, an "electric” teenager from the northern beaches and numerous of their teammates who turned heads.

The junior Waratahs produced an entertaining display in round two of the national U16 rugby championships against the ACT Brumbies on a picture perfect afternoon at Daceyville.

The bloodlines of rugby were on show with the Toby Brial, the son of former Wallaby backrower Michael, scoring twice and Toby Farr-Jones, the nephew of Nick Farr-Jones, also scoring two tries.

Zach Fittler, one of the stars of the win against the Queensland Reds a week earlier, was rested.

The combination of agile Narrabeen Sports High’s Tylan Berryman, who had his hand in just about everything, and Farr-Jones down the right hand side of the park delivered two of the Waratahs first half tries in the match highlighting the talent, speed and skills of some of the best youngsters in the country.

“Tylan,he is electric. He was fantastic, he has evasive footwork, great catch and pass which keeps defender on their toes,’’ said Waratahs U16 coach Paul Cividin..

“Tom (Farr-Jones), he was fantastic. It was an amazing effort from him, he’s a real flyer.

“And Toby was fantastic also. A real leaders in the pack. He had a very impressive world rate and great ball skills.’’

Brial scored in both halves of the match the Waratahs won 51-10 after taking a 15-3 lead into the break.

Other scorers for NSW were Leo Jacques (The Scot’s College), Luca Cleverley (Randwick), Henry Seigmeier (St Joseph’s College), Charlie Poynton (Barker College) and Charlie Heidke also went over with Joe Walsh converting three from his five.

“Charlie (Poynton) was great when he came on, Leo was great, he took his opportunities and did a lot of hard yards in defence.

“The front row was fantastic and the set piece was quite dominant.

“Charlie Heidke also took his opportunity. He is a robust size for an winger.

“Darcy Brown off the bench was fantastic at halfback and Luca Cleverley, his defensive effort was extraordinary.’’
