Australian MotoGP star Jack Miller has signed for the Red Bull KTM factory team, leaving Ducati after five years.

The 27-year-old Queenslander has secured the KTM spot for 2023 and 2024 and will team up with South African Brad Binder and replace Portuguese Miguel Oliveira.

Miller rode for the Red Bull team in 2014 when he was runner-up in the Moto3 championship.

“I’m really excited for what the future holds with KTM_Racing,’’ Miller tweeted.

“We have some unreal history and I’m looking forward to supporting their mission!

“However, we’re staying focused on what’s ahead of us right now and I’m determined to leave nothing on the table come season end!’’

The announcement ends months of speculation over Miller’s future and after Ducati sporting director Paolo Ciabatti last weekend told Spanish TV that it was “almost certain” Miller would not stay.

Fellow Aussie Remy Gardner also competes on a KTM, riding for the Tech 3 team.

KTM team manager Francesco Guidotti said Miller would be a “strong asset”.

“I know him well, I know how he likes to work and what he can bring to the box.

“I believe his character and the way he will ride and push our KTM RC16 will help us a lot at this stage of our project.

“Like Brad, Jack is a pure racer: he will find the limits and the maximum of any condition and any package and still ‘go for it’ to get the result and that is quite a rare quality.’’

Miller is currently ninth in the championship with a second and third placing after nine rounds.

He has won three races at MotoGP level during his career, the last triumph at Le Mans, France, in 2021.

Before Ducati, Miller rode for Honda for three years.
