RESULTS AND REPLAYS
U18 girls, Pool B: NSWB 8 — ACT 1
By Daniel Cencic
The Blues bounced back from their Friday nil-all draw with the NT in resounding fashion, putting on a clinic against the ACT.
Despite an early challenge, the floodgates opened for the Blues thereafter led by three goals from Amalia Patterson – including two in the first half which set the scene – while Millie Fulton and Zoe MacMillan added their second majors after the main break to blow the margin out.
U18 boys, Pool B: WA 3 — ACT 1
By Daniel Cencic
Western Australia held off a spirited fightback from the ACT, edging its eastern counterpart courtesy of a late sealer.
The winners had the better of the ACT in the first half taking a 2-0 lead, but an improved ACT defence rallied a comeback, drawing within a goal within seconds of the final change as Logan Stewart found the back of the net.
WA landed the knockout blow however in the 53rd minute, as Hamish Adamson banked his second goal of the match.
U18 girls, Pool B: NT 2 — SA 0
By Daniel Cencic
The Northern Territory outlasted the South Australians in a dour struggle to run out 2-0 winners, led by a stellar performance from Sally Howie in attack as the sole scorer.
With goals hard to come by, it wasn’t until early in the second that Howie struck first from the field, but the scoreboard would remain that way for the bulk of the remaining action, as both defences held firm. But a 50th minute steadier from Howie put the result beyond doubt.
U18 boys, Pool B: VIC DEV 4 — SA 2
By Daniel Cencic
Victoria’s development side has bounced back from Friday’s drubbing at the hands of New South Wales, proving a class above the South Australians.
While SA struck the first blow through a Hassan Singh field goal, the Vics answered by piling the next three of the first quarter through skipper Miller Smith, Nicholas Spencer and Jeffrey Kitson.
Oliver Thompson rounded out the scoring for Victoria with an early fourth-term goal to seal the win, before South Australia’s Dylan Holland landed his side a consolation prize, hitting the net from a penalty corner.
U18 girls, Pool A, Pool B: NSW State 1 — VIC 1
Daniel Cencic
A late charge from Victoria has seen it pinch a thrilling draw against New South Wales State, thanks to a final quarter strike from Evie Stansby from a penalty corner.
NSW wasted no time making its mark, finding its way onto the scoresheet within the first two minutes through captain Lili Maroney, holding the lead until the 47th minute.
